#### that sucks, i wish i would have known you wanted one, my bud is selling his formula 350 for 3000 and it sweet, but as far as that goes it depends on how far away he lives from you, you may ask if anyone lives by him thats on this site and maybe somebodys good will would help ya out, as far as the law i dont know, but if you got the title and all then the car is legaly yours i believe. you might check with the police and ask them how you should go about it? hope this helps

I did a search and did not find his name "TUNEDPORTTERROR"
and never heard of him before.
The guy may or may not be trying to rip you off but it surly sucks.
I think I saw on LS1.com tips on buying parts over the net. I had been taken before by MOnster Motorsports on a transmission deal. he performance trannie cost $1400 + $150 shipping. Well it didnt work and they insisted that I send it back or no warranty. No local shop could look in it or the warranty would be void. I sent it back for repair - another $150 then they wanted another $150 to ship it back again!!! I got my money back instead and bought one local. Got me a $300 lesson and a hat. I hope your lesson doesnt turn out to be as expensive as it looks like right now. sad.gif

I get nervous everytime I buy anything like that from a person on the internet. I use ebay some and haven't got the shaft yet. Thank God.

Ok. First of all to reply to the quote above.. i wouldnt trust anyone either that I dont know when it comes to large sums of money.. certian things would have to transpire before I felt comfortable.. we trust each other to give good advice on the automotive platform... we never implyed that we were a auction site.. we just have a area open to help members in this area.. with that being said...

There is absolutly no room here for dishonest people... and I, speaking on the full behalf of this website, will do whatever helps you to make this situation better. I can turn over any information that I have on this member... I want to advise that we are not taking responsiblity for this.. BUT, I will help you in any way shape or form within my means to help you resolve this problem..

I am very sorry to hear about this..

TunedPortTerror has made only one post.. and furthermore.. he registred with a hotmail account with the same name... please PM me so I may give you more information regarding IP addresses and hostnames and his ISP he uses..

What gets me is.. he gave you the title.. that is weird.. is it legitimate? We dont know for sure if this is a scam... although it is real easy to think that considering the chain of events..... I will make this a pinned topic in this forum so everyone including me can see the transpondance in this matter...

There are other possibilities that may have happened also. The guy may have died. It happens. He may have been in trouble with something else and got locked up. Or he could be in a hospital somewhere. All I'm saying is he may not be able to get back to you or get a message to you. This is something you will need to investigate unfortunatly. Where is he supposedly from? Perhaps a member here lives in that area and can acquire the car for you?

As far as member trust goes, that comes with time. The ones who have been here a long time I would trust cause they have proven themselves to me. Others that are newer will have to earn that trust over time. It's just logical. I would be very cautious buying from these people who pop in here just to sell something.

I still think a more strict guidelines need to used for these one time sellers before they post.

hmmm.. i agree... How could we regulate this...

first of all... if we have members that only register to sell things.. then we really could go on without them being here in the first place.. ebay would be a more suitable place for them... smile.gif

the quick thing that i can think of is... maybe a member has to have a certain amount of posts before being able to CREATE topics in the classifieds area... they can reply.. but not create.. if they reply with a forsale post.. then the posts.. not thread.. gets edited and advises member to start a new topic with the info of the part or car that is forsale.. if they dont meet the minimum requirements to start a topic in that forum.. they they cant start a topic.. this would reallt help in reducing these people that come here seeing that we are a thriving community and thinking that they can use us as a way to make a quick buck then move on...

I am not directing this to our regular members that want to sell a used set of rims that have been here for a couple of years... we want to make sure that these one post wonders dont come here to make a quick sale and leave..

The LS1 TECH forum has a pretty good bit of advice on the subject - kinda long but here is the link LINK

Perhaps we should pin a document like this too?

I would have to agree with cart69 on several items.
Dont let him know your comming until you knock on his door.
Having someone or the Law with you when you do yould be a very good idea too.
You can tell the cops he burnt down a dunkin donut store and that will take care of the Ha$$ wippin he has due!

well.. like Tyler pointed out.. it is easy to fear the worst.. but.. I would keep an openmind on the whole deal.. there really could be some other factor in this.. I wouldnt accuse him of theft yet.. as a matter of fact.. i wouldnt accuse him untill after you meet with him at his house..

Is this a red car?
if it is I think I may know who you are talking about, not personally but from another board where there is a guy with a red third gen formula under the name tunedportterror (I assume I am remembering right). I think he tried to sell his car a while back.

i taken on a deal for my motor. i bought a complete 455 over the internet. the guy said it had just been pulled from the car yeasterday and has had the carb on it the whole time. for $400 i couldnt pass it up. so i drive 3 hours up to his place to get it. it looked to be in good shape so i didnt think twice. so we go to load in the truck and he goes to get his engine lift.....it was a stripped down truck( no body just wood for a seat, a steering wheel, drivetrain and a frame.) he had 3 25ft steel poles welded on the back and a winch stung up over them. this was his lift. he started to lift the motor and i though the whole contraption was going to tip over. i asked him if the motor was drained. he said it was but about na hour and a half into the trip home i stopped for gas the whole bed was filled with coolant and oil. then i finally get it home and tear it down. it had to have sat outside for probably year with no carb. i have to bore it .45 over just clean the cylinders up enough to use it. too many shady people out there. i dont deal with private sales anymore. respectable companies or local where i can go meet them and see what im getting before i throw my money down.
good luck with the car i hope you get it or at least get him

When you go meet this guy DEFFINITLY take the police with you. If for some reason things get a little heated, you do not want this guy saying you assulted him. Plus people tend to get very definisve on thier own property, trust me on this one. You are walking into his world. You dont want to go there to threaten him or beat him up, ok maybe you do, but thats not going to get your car. Take the police and the whole situation will go a lot smoother for you. You could find YOURSELF in a lot of trouble if this isn't handeled the right way.
I agree with what Jon was saying about making a minimum number of posts before a person can sell. Sounds like a good idea. I mean lets face it, you guys dont know me at all. Would you feel comfertable trusting me untill you knew more about me? I know I wouldn't, hell I dont trust me and I do know me biggrin.gif I think I'm rambaling now laugh.gif
