my 94 use to run a best of 14.7 the car had its miles and rung out good from the previous owner bit it had simple mods. pulley, k/n filter, jet icm, flowmastermuffler, i put msd wires, msd coil, plugs and vortech elbow. car run a best of 14.7 ran it about 5 diffrent times 14.7 was the best on street tires.
put a new timing chain, push rods, a new a/c delco distributor, deleted the air pump, cut off all unessesary hoses, and the only real performance mods was the cam, edelbrock headers and ypipe running open ypipe and i ran the car last night first run a 14.9 at 100mph can you say traction issues. my wife asked me how many times i was gonna run it and i say till it gives me the times i want or till the engine blow. second run was a 13.80 at 103, so there still is tractions issue but there also was .9 second change the cam was the right match with the headers. still got the stock 2.73.
the problem i was having last night is since i was running open headers my low end torque wast all there. at idle its still got that lt1 off idle snap but you can feel the low end torque not there. but at 3200rpms the cam starts to scream. so with the low end torque not there feathereing it off the line was out of the question. going full throttle of the line would cause the tires to break loose as soon once the cams operation rpm range would hit. but last night i ws just seeing how the new cam and headers would respond. and i got rewarded with a .9 drop.
