Full Version: first time to the track since the mods

Well it looks like my next investment will be some sticky tires. This track is usally a good hooking track but not tonight. Went out there the first time and since it was the first i started off idle and eased it fairly slowly to full throttle. Didn't spin and got a 13.659 at 103.69. Not bad for how easy I took it so next time out I just decided what the heck, I'll gun it at the green and see if she hooks....yea rights. It was getting a little sideways and i just kinda feathered it till it hooked and once it hooked it hauled butt but the timeslip had a whopping 3.052 60' and the ET was 15.625 at 98.77 blink.gif . I knew the spinning hurt but jeez. Next run i went half throttle at first and it wouldn't hook. Last run I changed lanes and decided to ease into it like i did the first time but traction was not meant to be. I couldn't get it to hook for nothin and got a blistering 14.868 at 99.56. I think it was still missin a bit. I'll get a reading program and see what's going on, go back out in a couple of weeks and see what I get then start looking for some drag radials or ET streets.

What are you mods, just the ones in the sig?
Pyro97
small cam, roller rockers, comp lifters/springs/pushrods, pacesetter LT's and y-pipe, no cats, hooker catback, trans go shift kit, 3.73's, 2800 converter, 52mm throttle body, deleted EGR/AIR, madz28 tune. Also have a BMR adjustable torque arm so next time I go out I'll probably mess around with that a little.

Some DR's would definitly help.

Added subframe connectors, line-lock and got a set of ET Streets (full mod list in sig). These tires definetly solved my traction issues. Anyway, new times. Only got to run twice because the staging lanes were moving so slow.
run 1: (beat 05 GTO) Run 2:
60ft: 1.927
1/8et: 8.589
1/8mph: 82.25
1/4et: 13.399
1/4mph: 100.41

Run 2:
60ft: 1.939 (slower on a harder launch? hmm...)
1/8et: 8.542
1/8mph: 84.16
1/4et: 13.341
1/4mph: 99.12 (again slower??)

At least I could get traction this time. I find it odd how on the 2nd run the 60ft was slower when on the first run I did half throttle then full, while on the 2nd one I did straight full throttle pretty much. Also a slower mph? On paper, this car (I think) should be good for high 12's. One thing that was different though, the O2 sensor (driver side) was unplugged the first run and plugged in the 2nd. I had been leaving it unplugged because the car has a slight oil leak that I can't find, and the oil was getting into the O2 sensor plug and messing it up so that when the car went closed loop it would run terrible. I plugged it in for the 2nd run figuring there would be enough time for the oil to get into it especially since I only seems to leak when the car is parked right after driving. But anyway, I think the car has more in it, there's just something not quite right. Plus I'm sure the typical rainy hot summer South Carolina humidity didn't help.

So what do ya'll think? smile.gif

i am running 13.9's 14.0's running the same mph you are but i am spinning big time i would rather spin than break the rear i am also running 3:23's i too believe my car should be faster than it is believe it or not the car is faster with the stock stall converter than the 2800 one i was running i can't figure it out all i can do is sit here and scratch my head. i guess its got a mind of its own.now out on the street its a different animal from a roll it will run side by side with a new vette and edge on them when they shift so i would say its running pretty dang well but why the crumby 1/4 mile performance?

I know what you mean blink.gif
a concern of mine too

Well the weather finally allowed me to go back and the crowd allowed me to make plenty of passes. My new best overall run was...
60ft: 1.873 (best of the night was 1.872)
1/8 et: 8.479
1/8 mph: 82.64 (all were 82.xx but best of the night was 82.78)
1/4 et: 13.261
1/4 mph: 103.06
It's definitly consistant. I'm going to get Ion to do a little tweaking on the tune and maybe in november or so I can get a little better weather. I'm gettin down there cool.gif . I beat an older 5.0 mustang that sounded like it had a little done and I beat a grand prix with a turbo kit twice. The owner of the GP says he's gonna go put more money into his car now biggrin.gif . And I was right next to a C5 until just past the 1/8 where he jumped ahead a little. Not sure what he had but I know he had exhaust by the sound. smile.gif
