Going through town today I point out the Porsche for my girlfriend that we are getting ready to roll up beside at a light. I don't know much about them other than that the 928 is a N/A, front engine, rear drive V8 with some pop-up headlights without covers. I guess they run good, especially a more recent version like this one. Anyway, guy is a member of the golf course I used to work at, so I reminded him, caught up a little, and complemented the white 928. I kinda gooched it as we rolled away, but there was traffic everywhere so anyway... dry.gif

Well I go to take the interstate and he falls in behind. I didn't think anything cause he never really gooched it with me earlier, but I see the Porsche hanging back a little then start digging around that entrance ramp behind me. Must handle too rolleyes.gif . I was in D and in 2nd at a low 25ish, so I didn't want to romp all over it and make it kick down in the middle of this sharpe turn. I just squeezed on it smooth like, and when the ramp ended the 928 jetted straight left coming hard. My car was coming alive then too and as I wrung out the last couple thousand rpms I looked back to see the Porsche right where it started when we got straight. It was even with my back bumper, so when I let off getting beyond the speed limit I was ahead cool.gif . I guess he was giving it all, sounded like it when he did his fly-by anyway, but I think I could have got him better if ready. What ya'll think, these things fast or what?

He was cool and gave a thumbs up later, and you know I enjoyed it smile.gif ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

Nice kill.

I don't know what they run but who cares. It sounds like you both had fun and that's what counts. smile.gif

it depends on the year of the car how fast it is. it sounds like u race a 94-95 they have a 5.4l v8 with 345hp and 360 lbstq a very nice car. they are very quick run low 13s and of course dip into 12's with a driver mod. they handle like well a porsche and with a 82k price tag brand new.
the early cars had a 3.0 inline six with 236hp i dont think hed of kept up with u unless modded. nice job try to get a better run with him cool.gif

the 89 i know had like 317 hp but the gearin on these cars held them back i think 2.54 was the preformance opt. from 2.37 or somthin close to that

The 949 is the fast one aint it? or is that 494? Whatever the AWD turbo one was.

I think you are thinking of a different style car, like maybe a rear engine boxer 6 with 2 snails rolleyes.gif . I don't think they did any AWD front engine configurations, or did they huh.gif ? No matter, the fastest production Porsche ever has just been released as a N/A mid mounted V10 named simply Carrera GT. Just wait 'til RUF gets ahold of some of them smile.gif

Yeah I think it was the more competitive newer version, it even had little body cues that looked more 90's than 80's. At least I know how the 'bird compares a little. I never realized they cost that much though, so at about 10 yrs. old how much you think he gave for it? He said he just got it, and it looked new on the outside anyway. I bet he thought my much cheaper car was no match laugh.gif .

I might just go try to bug him into another more formal go at it some time. Let me guess, my best beatings should probably happen from a standing start, right? They turn big revs or what?
