I just got a new set of speakers for the bird, I got 4 6.5 inch 2-ways, and a pair of 4 inch 2-ways. I got a boss 400 watt 4 channel amp and a boss 3-way crossover. tomorrow I am going to rip out the monsoon amp cut the harness and connect the wires to the new amp and then try it out. will this work? since I have 3 pairs of speakers I will have to run 2 straight to the radio. Can I do this by just connecting the wires at where they used to be at the old amp? And is this all I have to do?

ok, so today I went and installed the 2 rear 4" speakers, while there I looked for the factory amp and couldnt find it at all. I know I have a 10 speaker set up but maybe not monsoon? the amp def. is not there, I was thinking that maybe the amp was built into the factory head unit. maybe that is why my speakers sound so bad now with my new head unit at 220 watts max.

what do you guys think?

Everyone says that when you put an aftermarket head unit on it makes it sound like crap. No one has proven it tho, and there has to be a fix it just doesnt make any sense.

I dont know, it sounded fine and then when I changed out the head unit it is all vague and there is no bass, like the sail panel speakers dont work now. I just replaced them with infinities and still no luck, I know when I run them to the amp they will work but im not sure why they dont work now.

and does anyone have any idea on why the amp is not there. it is just a big empty space next to the tire.

oh and one last question, my speakers have been randomly turning off and on, it doesnt seem to have a pattern, they will work for a little while then cut off for a day or so, then after my car sits for a while they turn back on. thought it was the monsoon amp but now that it isnt there im not sure. the radio is brand new and I soldered all the harness together.
