i have 2 amps, 1 mono block, 1 4-channel, a 3 way crossover, and a dist. block. along with my 2 10's in their box. I'm not sure how I am going to place everything in the hatch. any ideas or anything out there that makes this easier?

I was thinking of making a 3/4 inch plywood platform to res on the "upper leverl" of the t-tops holder. so that it will have a flat surface all the way across from the little cubby hole. but im not sure if that will be enough space for everything. do any of you guys have pix of your set-ups I could see? thanks a lot
Tyler
You can yank the spare tire out and make a nice panel to bolt it up to in there.

I think im going to make a small platform that takes up all of the flat space in the hatch, just enough so I can get all the wires under it so It will look better. I'll tell ya guys how it looks later.

this is what I did with my old setup.

i did it the way you want with the ply under and notched out the wood so the wires run under the carpet.. i like it just get the rear window tinted dart.
check my photo i'll see if i can get some on

ok there up my sub is a DVC... i have a awesome design speaker cover that was drawn on CAD then laser cut it looks awesome.
while i was up loading pictures i put one of my lower control arms i made with the relocation brakets..
i don't think you can see the rear pan hard rod.

(oh plus what i did i think is cool is the power antenna i opened it and made it where it only goes up 18" :-)

well I finished it all this weekend, it looks great, too bad I dont have a digital camera to show it off. anyway, the bad part is, when it was all hooked up my 6.5's didnt work. I tried everything and nothing worked.

I took it to cartoys to have them diagnose it, turns out the new deck I bought wasn't pushing out enough volts. about 2 they said, so it was worse than my stock radio!!!!
I ended up buying fromt them an alpine cda-9847. with the ipod controller, it helped out tons! only bad part now is that they tell me my 4-channel amp isn't good enough to push the infinities. they recomended one of their eclipse amps..... but the deck drained my funds enough to where I cant buy a new amp for a while. sad.gif all and all, it works but.... lacking
Slagger
sounds good save up and you'll get them soon, what kind of infinitys you have? and what about amps i think mine r only 400 watts each @ 2 ohms so my speakers r 4 ohms that means my amp is pushing 200 watts into 4 channel 50 watts each speaker and they sound good exept i thought i would get alittle more bass out of the front speakers the middle wow tones of good sound with bass on them..

I have the reference series infinities, I wish I had the kappa's, those are the best I'm told.

PLEASE HELP ME ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have fixed all the little problems with my set up except the speaker buzzing, it is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!! If the amp has any input while the car is on, they buzz. If I take out the rca plug and just touch my finger to it they buzz. (take it out of the crossover) my subs are even buzzing at a really low freq. I was yelling and looking like an idoit today trying to fix the problem. Im sure it is my msd ignition, but I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!! I ran the power straight to the battery, and the msd ig. is ran to that power platform.

I used 4 gauge power and ground wire, and grounded it to the metal in the back, kinda where the t-tops go. and all the amps are run off a dist. block.

also when the head unit turns on I hear a loud pop sound in all the speakers. I tried it without the rca's thinking it was the amp turning on with the remote but no sound, so it is my head unit? I am ready to just freak out im so mad. TOO MUCH $ and still no pay off.....

If I were to put a capacitor (1 farad or less) onto the power cable and then run the capacitor to the Dist. Block, will that cancel out engine noise?

Also I heard of a capacitor kinda thing that you run to your remote wire to keep your amps off for a couple more seconds then turn them on, and then you wont get the pop from the head unit
Slagger
ok, on your ground wire to your amp how many inchs or feet is it?
then on the poping sound i'm not sure on your amp but on mine it hes a soft start in it, where when you turn them on it slowly goes on so you will not get that pop.
oh and how about your gain controls how high are they set?

plus does your amp have the high - low inputs?
imnotplutonium
my amp does have high low inputs, im using rca, "low" inputs. my ground is about 2 feet in length. and no my amp is kinda low quality so it doesnt have soft start. but i heard there is a capacitor to hold the time it takes the amp to turn on so it will get rid of the pop... still looking for that though, oh and the buzzing and popping only get louder as I up the power on my amp. so I can't control it on that
Slagger
here s a great site it might help you.

ok I got the pop to stop,

it seems those "awesome" guys at cartoys (man I hate them) decided to run my remote wire to not the remote wire on my alpine, but to the fusebox..... I have not had a happy dealing with cartoys ever. They lied to me about my old head unit saying it didnt put out enough volts/power, then they said all the problems were from my amp, which I have fixed all but one without touching the amp. grrr.... anyway, all I have now is engine noise, I am upgrading my rca's tomorrow and seeing if that helps, right now I hvae unsheilded unspiraled cheap rca's, I just bought some double shielded ones from circuit city and hopefully that will help out if now solve the problem.
Tyler
Make sure the grounds are good, that will help your noises.
imnotplutonium
Finally, I ran the grounds to each amp separatly (sp), I was told I wouldnt have to do this before because I had the ground dist. block, and a 4 gauge running to it. anyhow, I ran the 4 channel separate from the dist. block and now the noise is gone, except a really high pitch noise that is hard to hear, but it happens when the car is off too, so i think it is the cheap amp.

anyway, thanx for all the help guys, it took a while but now after countless hours of install and troubleshooting it works, smile.gif

Oh and I was looking to upgrade my amps in the near future, what do you guys think of infinty's amps? they are kinda pricey, but im sure so are most good amps. 300 for 4-channel and 350 for monoblock
Slagger
yes keep the Ground wire close and short as posible..
mine are 4 ga.. about 18" each plus when you run the wires from the stereo run your wires seperate from the signal wires i ran my power wires on the left side under carpet and the other wires on the right side.... plus i didn't think it would matter but i ran a groung wire to my stereo head (metal case)and yes it got some of the low hiss out and try to run all your groung from a ground star point.

i was thinking about infinitys but got clarions, i'm very happy with them.
