Driving to my buddy's house this on a 40mph street. Im minding my own beeswax doing about 45... a lil ahead of the flow of traffic but not in any rush. I check my mirrors and out of nowhere comes some lil black Miata charging his way through traffic... i shrug it off and keep cruising, I'm enjoying my T-Tops!...
This guy has plenty of room to pass me, but keeps riding my rear-end. So, i do what anyone does when annoyed by pests.... MESS WITH THEM! i slow down, slower, slower, slower... all the way down to 30mph... he finally gets peeved and jumps to the side of me... when he's in my blind spot i drop into 3rd and jump to about 70 in a real jiffy... lil pest never got in front of my blind spot.
At the stoplight he pulls next to me... middle-aged guy with a Miata you could tell wasnt stock: at least had exhaust/cold air and a few other things...his mufflers were friggin HUGE! I think he was upset that this 19-yr old kid had a car faster than his. Or maybe he was realizing that if he was lookin for fast he bought the wrong car lol... but he revs for all he's worth. and i did the only humane thing i could for the poor disillusioned ricer: i gave him a head start......
......he catches up to me at the next light a few seconds later, smiles, waves, admits defeat, and i return the smile/wave, flip a u-turn to go to my friends house... sometimes you just gotta smoke the rice and put them in their place...

Maybe he had a supercharger and was feeling brave...

those things can be supercharged?!?!? People do the craziest things to their rice... i just like to eat it, not drive it.

Even though most little imports are nothing to worry about it's still fun to blow thier doors off.

WHOAH!!!! they make superchargers AND turbos for those cars... Seems like kinda a waste if ya ask me. Heck in my Mustang that thing prolly coulda stomped me... makes me glad i drive a Birdie now... i guess if EVOs dont scare me Miatas shouldnt either ... think they'll ever learn? Couldnt he HEAR my car isnt stock!?!? Seems kinda obvious to me

haha u should see a miata with a 5.0 in it. those are fun. the new ones 2006 are 2500lbs 170hp 140lbsft 2.0liter I-4. with a turbo those would be pretty fast run 15.2 in the 1/4 stock.

I saw a write up about a couple of those several years ago, one was called the Monster Miata...they had shoehorned in a 5.0 engine that had been bored/stroked/massaged/built and had tubbed the rear to fit HUGE slicks on it. It had an insane amount of power and looked almost stock from the outside (except the tell-tale massive slicks). Other than one of those, I seriously doubt one will even hang off the rear bumper of a mildly modded bird.

funny thing was he didnt have any gfx, looked stock from front... he was an older guy, so im guessin he just thought he'd try his luck. He didnt even do the "ricer flyby"... good to know they're not all jerks.
