Does anyone know where to get that custom enclosure that goes in the empty space back where the t-tops go. Not the big box, but the small one that is on the left side opposite of the spare tire. I've seen them with subs and amps already inside but I just want the box to put and power my own sub. the box I have now is really weighing down my car and making it slow. I have it where the t-tops go and with 2 10's plus the box it is like 100lbs in the very back.

making it slow and I dont even wanna talk about the number of times i've bottomed out. sad.gif

JL audio used to make one.. not sure if they still do. It was like $300 though, with the sub. sad.gif they kinda price gouge.

...put any sub you want in it and they can custom make it for that sub for $112. all you need is the amp.

ok cool thats exactly what I wanted, does anyone have this box? is it pretty good or what? I have 2 visonik 10's that sound pretty darn good for the price i got them for. I am wanting to just get rid of one and the huge box I have em in and maybe drop a lil time cause of the weight reduction. oh and what do you guys think about ripping the back seats out? worth it? no one really sits back there, so it is kinda wasted weight and space. what do you guys think?

IMO, if you can do it without making the car look like it was blown out, great. The one's I have seen with removed back seats have looked kinda shabby.
imnotplutonium
yea thats kinda what I was thinking, not sure how to make it look nice but i was wondering if it was enough weight to really make it worth it
KRockLS1
the seats probably weights like 60 pounds total... The difference on the track would be...maybe a tenth. Weight reduction only really works when you remove all unnecessaries, like A/C, all seats besides driver, window motors, spare tire, etc. etc. etc. I'd start be removing the spare tire/tire iron before bothering with the seats. Only problem is, if you get a blow out, you're up a creek. I don't track race normally, so I keep the spare in the car, still plenty fast for me wink.gif. As for the back seat, I hardly ever usit, but the beauty of the F-body is that you can use it if you need to. I mean... the biggest pain about the vette sometimes, is that you can only take 1 passenger... you don't realize the inconvinience until you want to go somewhere with a small group...

thats true, I guess I might take out the spare. I mean will it even still be useful since I moved up to 17" wheels? that would be pretty wierd/hard to drive to where ever I needed to go at that time.
KRockLS1
shouldn't make any difference at all as long as the radial of your tires is the same... in other words the rim size makes no difference as long as the tire has the same radius. Did you have to reprogram your car when you got the 17"s or did you just step-down the side-wall thickness? If you just got skinnier tires, then the spare should still work ok. Otherwise, go ahead and dump it, but I'd think twice about driving a daily driver with no spare and no run-flats.
imnotplutonium
no i didnt change the computer at all, not sure how the radial changed at all, i really didnt take the time to check. i guess I'll get the measuring tape out and compare the diameters of each and see.
KRockLS1
if the radius did change you'll have to reprogram your PCM otherwise your speedo will be off. Last thing you want is to get pulled over for doing 75 right next to a cop when you thought you were doing 70.

yea actually ive been worried about that, but so far everything is ok, im getting that laptop soon with some tuning progs. to change that and fan turn on temp right off. then mess with some other stuff to try to get it running really well.
