got some good and bad news.
tonight, a buddy and I went out driving.
we came to a light and saw a 02-03 mustang GT.
i asked and he accepted. now seeing as i love my car, i got cocky.
light changed and i spun my tires for close to 50 feet. that said, he only beat me by 5-6 feet. dry.gif
came to another light with the GT. this time i wasn't so arrogant. wink.gif
light changed and ZOOM!
SMOKED.
i thought i could almost hear him crying. biggrin.gif
moral of the story: dont spin your tires!
KRockLS1
absolutely. I lost to my bro's 04 GTO with my old tires because I smoked the tires for at least 15 seconds (I had to let off the gas to stop the spin). Now that I have my new GS-D3s... minimal spin.

Dont feel bad, i havent even HAD the opportunity to race a mustang GT in a LONG time... not since i first got my car. Now that i think about it, i havent raced anyone since i got my mods done (car came stock under the hood, but it had the clutch and short-throw, and the suspension/subframe/tint done)

Good Kill... kinda cruel though. I think you were just sub-consiously letting the mustang think he stood a chance!
Dan95
yea moslty stock gts are nothin for a ls1. good kill and get some tires.
Doug
Been there lol Lost to a STi WRX because I spun in sand and he scooted away.

Oh well.

tires are almost new. only 500 miles. falken z-rated.
i just dumped it from 3000 (to much) blink.gif
ive practiced some more and got spin down a lot but cant seem to get rid of it all. gonna keep practicing! tongue.gif

caldramaguy, may be cruel wink.gif but what makes it better is that i was carrying almost 800 lbs extra than normal. (had gone out to dinner w/ some of my friends who are lineman of the varsity team) cool.gif
KRockLS1
hay dafizzman, you got traction control?
dafizzman1
yea, but if i leave it on, when the wheels spin the car looses steam untill it hooks again.
ive been trying to launch from 2500-2700 and it seems to be working.

Yeah dont feel bad my tires are toast and I was out last night saw a new LS1 WS-6 played around when I kicked it at 45 he did to just before me and I spun like mad had to jump out then feather the throttle he got me on that run but wanted to go again I went from the light and lightly applied the throttle waited for the hook and stayed half throttle through first waited for the shift then apllied full throttle easily and had him by about 6-7 car lenghts by 65 or so. If I would have had new nittos or even my ET streets he would have been real toast but hey his car sounded not stock although I have no idea it just sounded more than a catback though. He was really nice at the next light he even said I was the first LT1 to hand him his ######. He said it just sounded evil at the first light and his buddy said this is not good.

Hey at least he was cool about it. biggrin.gif
dafizzman1
thats what you have to be.
my philosophy is if you are cool w/ the person win or lose they could be there for another run someday. if you're an a** about it they might not race you again.
(but thats only because there is a serious drought of people w/ fast cars up here. biggrin.gif )

...I've had the Falkens...they tend to break loose faster....but wet weather traction was better then alot of other tires that I've tried.

I always smile and give a thumbs up....win or lose. I know how happy that makes me feel when someone that lost to me does that. smile.gif

youre right about the wet weather traction.
as long as i get a wave or a thumbs up i dont feel so bad about the loss.
