Hey guy, I've got a custom sub box in the space on the driver's side of the trunk so i can still have my t-top storage...i also have the amp mounting right against the front of the trunk w/ JUST enough room for the t-tops to fit in...right now i have it velcroed to the carpet, but it isn't working too well. I've been told that the gas tank is right behind that wall so i shouldn't screw into it to mount the amp...anyone know the real deal?
thirdgenrallysport
i just clipped mine to the carpet.

you clipped it to the carpet where i have mine now? the carpet seems to want to sag where i have it now, but i guess that would work... could probably superglue the carpet to the metal behind it
Tyler
The gas tank is close to there but you can drill some mounting holes for the amp.Thats how mine is mounted. Just make sure you go just thru the metal and dont let the bit go out the other side to far.

how far we talking here? and do you know where the tank is at (left right center top bottom) in relation to the trunk
Tyler
I'm not exactly sure where the tank is but I drilled just enough to make a hole. It's not like the drill bit will just GO thru the tank anyway. You would have to press on to put a hole in the tank.

I'd recommend attaching a depth gauge (i.e., "limiter") to your drill so you don't punch through and risk damaging the fuel tank. I'd then rivet your mounting brackets to the trunk using 1/8" blind rivets. (Beats the heck out of trying to hold a nut & lockwasher on the backside...) You can then attach your amp to the brackets using supplied hardware and Lock-tite or .020 safety-wire. Good luck. (Let us know how much a new fuel tank costs. LOL)
