This question has had me wondering for quite a while. I know quite a bit about firebirds and camaros, as well as many other cars, however i was never really sure about the difference between Formula's and Trans Ams. I know that the Trans Ams are more "Flashy" than the formulas, with the rear spoiler and nose...but how about performance-wise? If one were to race both of them stock, which would take it? I would think the Formula would have some sort of performace upgrades that the Trans Am doesn't have...

The formulas and T/A are similarly matched. In fact, under the body, there is virtually no difference. T/As however, tend to be a bit heavier due to the excess body mouldings and interior upgrades (custom buckets, etc.). I have raced an A4 WS6 T/A and was not defeated. It wasn't a stellar win, and I have no idea if it was modded though.

Of course, the WS6 package (not available stock on Formula after 2000) included the FE1 (correct me if I'm wrong) stiffer Suspension larger air plenim fiberglass ram air hood 17" wheels/tires, and std. 3.42 axle.

I agree - TA's weigh more and that is the main diff due to the flashie stuff.

though a formula does not always win the race. its all in varibles and drivers really. but bench racing the formy weighs less so there for should win
