My stereo was jacked from my car not too long ago and they did a number on the dash getting it out. I live in a bad city so it was bound to happen sooner or later I guess. Anyways, instead of buying a brand new stereo and getting that stolen again, is there a way I can take the stereo wires and convert into a female end headphone plug? That way I can just take my mp3 player or discman in the car with me until I can save up and decide to get a new stereo or not.

Not unless you have an amp in your car that was seperate from your deck. An mp3 player doesn't have the power needed to drive car speakers, or any speakers for that matter. It's just made to power headphones which require very little power.

Thanks for the info I didnt know that. I was hoping to find a cheap solution so I could listen to music for a while because I know wearing headphones while driving is illegal. I guess Id better start saving up for another system.

Well if you just want something cheap and temporary, you might try ebay or a pawn shop to get a used deck to listen to in the meantime. Who knows, you might actually run into yours that got stolen, heh. Just install it till you can afford the one you want and when you take it out, sell it and you might just get back what you paid for it in the first place.

I think Im actually going to bite the bullet and buy one of these. Seems like a pretty good deal for the money.
