My 94 z28 originally had the bose system and then an aftermarket system, but the theives cut a lot of the wires. I'm wanting to put another stock radio and speakers in just to get me by for a while since I am going to drive it on the street for a bit while I save up for my planned mods. I don't really want to spend the time or money getting a bose system unless I come across one for a good price so i was wondering if I could use the stock pieces from another f-body or even a radio (preferably CD) from another GM vehicle. I figure some wiring would need to be done since it was messed with anyway but can this be done without too much trouble?

I just bought a CD player out of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix to install in my 1988 Formula. It fits right in with one minor mod to the bracket to the rear. The new radio sticks out to far by about 1/2 inch. If you are looking at new model Pontiac radios just beware that if TheftLock is activated you need the VIN and then you have to go to a stealership to get it reprogrammed. I got lucky and mine was unlocked. I bought mine of the net from a boneyard. Ebay has them as well. The following link is for Camaro's but it can be applied to Bird's as well:
