I want one, but Crutchfield say dash modifications are required, but doesn't give any details. It's not worth butchering my dash. It also says they are a direct fit in a 1995 Mustang, so I'm thinking they are simply referring to a mounting kit.
Any and all advice appreciated.

the ones i looked at from Electronic Express were direct fit into the standard CD dash kit. I dont know anything about altering the dash no one mentioned that to me.

I've seen a couple of 4th gens at different car shows with DVD/CD players in the dash area where the stock unit goes and none of those cars had the dashes modified on any way.
But who knows, it might depend of the brand of the unit you want to use on whether or not the dash has to be modified to accept it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping the "Modifications" they are talking about are just a mounting kit. I'm fixing to head out to BestBuy, they seem to have the best prices, other than eBay, and hopefully they will be able to clarify what all is involved in the install. I want to do it all myself if possible. I'll update with results later.

A bad a$$ setup would be the new Delphi touch screen navigation units w/DVD capability and get that installed. It would be a flush finish, and it would not be motorized to go in and out of the dash. Im putting one in the Sierra sometime soon.

Yeah, the navigation systems are sweet, but it really isn't worth it to me as I don't really travel by car enough to get any use out of it, except for the coolness factor.
Well, I'm heading out the door to hopefully spend some more money on another toy I absolutely DON'T need!!!

Mine fits with no modifications at all. It sticks out maybe an inch or so, but you couldn't tell. It looks very clean.
Save yourself some money on the installation and do it yourself. It's not hard at all.

No intentions on jacking this thread, since the deck is already installed and it is nearly 2 years old. I too have the same question. I have RPO code "UT6". It looks larger than a standard DIN, I am hoping it is a double din. I want to install an in dash Navigation Unit. I don't want the pop out ones, I think the mechanisms on those things are weak. Any suggestions?
