today i went to island dragway in northern nj and ran a best of 13.51 at 104mph i was hoping a little faster but it was my first time at the track with a manual. All i have to say is launching is a huge pain in the ###### and i need more practice at it.

If you're running on street tires those really aren't bad times for your first time at the track. Plus your final time/mph is well within the limits for a stock/stockish LS1 car. My 99 ran 13.4 @ 104 when it was still stock.

But get yourself a set of drag radials and those will help out alot especially if you're having a problem hooking up when you launch. Don't get slicks though since your car doesn't sound like it's built up enough for them and they'd be overkill. Also what gears do you have in your car? That can make a difference in the times your car will run too.

Other then that, unless you want to modify your car, the only thing that will help with your times is practice practice practice.

Remember - with a manual trans there is alot more driveline shock so the sticky tires will be harder on your differential. HP Pontiac has some good articles on beefing up the stock 7" like Yukon axles, welding the tubes, and a stud girdle.
Have fun but just don't be suprized if something breaks...
When it does thats when you upgrade to a 12" GM rearend smile.gif
