I need to remove the dash to do some wires for my speakers. I pulled the battery out, so do I still need to go through the "Disable SIR" procedures to keep the passenger airbag from blowing up in my face?
And I cracked the plastic cover, fun times.

The DERM module has a capacitor that holds a charge to fire the air bags, in the event the battery becomes disconnected in a crash. You need to wait at least 20 minutes after you disconnect the battery, to allow the reserve power to bleed out of the DERM module. Then you will be fine. Each airbag has a bright yellow harness connector, with a locking pin in it. Disconnect the harness connectors for added insurance. The yellow connector for the drivers side is at the base of the steering column. Not sure exactly where the one is for the passenger side.... I haven't removed that one yet.

Ok I'm safe then, I have the battery out for a few days now.
Tried removing parts of the dash, did not wear a glove and now I'm bleeding. So taking a break and going for more late.
I pulled out a lot of wiring for old speakers though, so something is getting done.
