Ok i ordered the custom camshaft for my rebuild.

I called in to their cam help line and had a custom gride cam made. ( I didnt get the guys name, mistake #1), this guy was rude also. he gave me the cam specs on the hi and low lift.

so i take the part number he gave me and went online and paid for it and everything was fine...so i thought

the next day i get a call from comp saying they needed to cancel my order and that i needed to call back in because something about needing more information on the engine and blah blah blah.

so i wait again 30 minutes for someone to come to the phone and talk with me. i give her the information and whatknot and order the cam for the 2nd time, they wanted the initial techs name that made the specs for me, i didnt know it so they left it blank but the process went through

now 3 days later(today) i get my cam, look at the specs...wow what the crap,, they are different. He initally told me (confirmed 2 times). the low lift being 248 at the intake and 248 at the exhaust. and hi being 550 at intake and 548 at the exhaust.

HOWEVER when i got the cam and look at the spec card it says 242/248 549/544. Im like WHAT THE HELL this isnt my cam i was told im getting. (regardless that you cannot have 2 lift numbers the same on the I/E but hey maybe he was stupid and misread it). so i give comp a call, wait about 15-20 minutes. and then the guy comes up and asks whats the issue (he was not very nice either). I told him the cam specs were wrong or not what the guy told me they would be. he got the specific specs that the guy gave me and the ones on the cam and was basically liek oh well. its a custom part and we cannot return or exchange and that the numbers wont actually matter at all, which i found was BS because i will lose about 3-5HP because of the small cam i got, which is almost crap but still i could have had more. SO to end the story i told him he was full of it and that i would lose performance wise and told him that i would never deal with comp again and hung up.

makes me pissed off. what i should do is tell the credit card people that they sent me the wrong part and to get my money back but i dont know if its worth it...they i would be out a cam and would have to wait another week. anyways from my experience Comp Cams is crap and their representatives are rude and unhelpful. But hey im sure you guys out there had tons better experence witht hem but thats just mine and i will never go back.

Update: looks like somepeople in Comp Cams does care about their business and customers. I got a call today from an Employee and we went over everything that happened and everything tuned out to be ok. The camshaft i recieved tuned out to be better for my setup than the one i originally has setup (a mistake maded into treasure hehe).

Anyways a long story short the company went above and beyond to accomidate for my unhappiness and did everything they could to make me happy with the situation.

They appologized for the couple people that i had spoke with that was unpleasent and worked everything out with me in a super professional matter. Maybe i will do business with Comp in the future after all.

Thats good to hear. Maybe something had crawled up those two's butts or something. Being rude to people just is not going to accomplish much.
