Blackbird Jon
So I'm at a red light yesterday when a blue late model Toyota Celica pulled alongside. 3 dudes in the car, and they are all looking over at me pointing forward like they wanted to run 'em. I just kinda laughed at them and shook my head like they were crazy. Well, they beat me! See I keep buying these used tires so I can have fun with tire smoke without breaking the bank. Thing is, they do not hook at all under low speed/heavy throttle conditions. I knew this when the light went green so I tried to ease on it while the Celica was moving out in front. No amount of light right foot pressure is good, because as I tried to baby it the Celica was leaving, and when I tried to give it more, can u say tire fire?!?!?! They were looking back at me and since I wasn't interested in chasing them down at well over the speed limit, I just let them pull away and watch as I blazed the tires in a back and forth movement for a couple hundred feet. No ricer fly-by from this 'bird!

I got an extra set of wheels. I think from now on one set will wear my "drifting" tires gears.gif , while the others get outfitted with a nice new set of drag radials cool.gif wink.gif . Even if, I'm sure when the next Celica pulls up I'll still have the cheap tires on. What I'm gonna do, tell 'em to wait right there for 30min. while I go home and get the right tires on?

The only solution is to buy some good tires (break the bank) and run them all the time.

ya. That's no good when you don't get traction. Ditch the used tires... get some good quality Good Year's

That sucks Jon. But don't feel bad, I've had something similar happen to me too. I tried to run someone in a car that I should have beaten easily but off the line the car just wouldn't get traction and I sat there spinning the tires like there was no tomorrow.

But like everyone's said, get some good tires on your car and next time you run into them you'll be able to show them your taillights instead of leaving the intersection looking like your sig pic.

Yeah, you need some sticky stuff. I couldnt believe how well the drag radials hook on the street. With my h/c my BFGoodrich KD's had my rear end all over the place even when shifting into 3rd hard. Not with the Nittos!

Nittos drag radials will pick up every single little rock on the road. The Mickey Thompsons will not. With that being said, the Mickey Thompsons are my next choice of tires.

a celica huh...ouch. Those things are only pushin 180hp...but yeah if you spin the tires, you gotta play catch up burnout.gif Get some sticky stuff and you wont have any more problems playing catch up with most cars on the road cool.gif
