will an air foil help out on a stock 5.7 350 formula ws6??? im not sure if the air foil is only necessary on high power producing cars or not....im on a low bidget so im trying to get what i can that is cheaper and actually still does the trick...

minimal, might get alil better throttle response but biggest gains will be with highly modified intake, descreened maf or highflow maf, ported plenum, runners and base. also dont get plastic ones, go for a aluminum peice from SLP or TPIS.

TPIS claims 40cfm increase on a modified intake, go to TPIS.com and order there insider hints book. they give u all the lil hints and performance upgrades as well as dyno sheets and results from individual upgrades etc. good book u really understand the TPI system and all its parts

id say put it on it will help not hurt it and will do more when u do more mods, it will help in the upper RPM ranges bc it smooths out the air going into the plenum. and its only like 60$ so wat the hell so itttttttt! its been proven to increase power and help drivability.

it helps a bit on a stock car a few hp for the 40some bucks it cost it wont hurt. nice little item to buy when u have a few bucks in your pocket. just get it its on of the first things everyone gets

Or you can save up for a 52mm with it already built in.

well i do have a tpi car....will that be a plus somewhere or no??i want to get some tube runners also....how much is a descent set cost?

a 52mm. what?????and how much is the cost?
SassySue09
Matt's talking about a 52mm throttle body. I'm not sure how much they cost for the 3rd gens sorry.
custom87blackbird
ok i would get the air foil for ur TPI if ur gona keep the stock throttle body for a while i mean the air foil will help not hurt and its only 50-75$
id get SLP's or TPIS's...just make sure its aluminum and not the composite ones

52mm throttle body is sold by summit and jegs, a good one is a BBK billet throttle body....stock TB is 48mm so a 52mm will flow more air and a 58mm is the max, a 48mm stock TB will flow enough for 400hp before becoming restrictive, 52mm is good for a highly modified 350, and a 58mm is good for a high output 383 or larger.
BBK 52mm TB from summit will cost 300$
BBK 58mm TB from summit will cost 310$
cast high flow summit TB 52mm from summit will cost 250$ ish
cast high flow summit TB 58mm from summit will cost a lil more prob like 260$ish
holley also makes them but they are more expensive then these

the aftermarket TB's have the airfoil machined into them to smooth out air for more performance, stock doesnt, personally if i wasnt goin for looks i would go with the summit high flow TB bc u can save alittle dough and the performance would be the same etc. they are a new product and have only been out for a couple months.

RUNNERS! cost a buttload,
SLP= 300-400$ i believe but idk bc i got mine at a swap meet for 150$ smile.gif yeaaaaaaaa!
TPIS=about the same
edelbrock= about the same
ASMI...or something like that are prob about the same
expect to pay 300-400$ for runners and a base will run u 400-450$

all these runners are about the same in inner diameter...roughly 1.6-1.66" verses stock 1.47, the SLP's are siamesed for higher RPM's, TPIS has siamesed as well for the same reason but also sell large tube...just a larger verson than stock, the edelbocks and ASMI are the same are the large tubes from TPIS. u need to choose the right runner for ur application. and plan for future upgrades as well, also plan on doing alittle porting which will take timeeee on the plenum etc and the gaskets as well. 10-15hp for runners and 10-15hp from the base, edelbrock sells at kit which is the runners and base together and i believe gaskets etc from summit and they claim 20hp on stock 350TPI, i would expect more with port work plenum....mabye clean up runners and base alittle etc.

This dyno test was done on an LT1, but that's not that much different than your TPI 350, with a similar stock throttle body. However, all the significant gains on the LT1 were above 5,500 RPM..... not sure that the L98 keeps making good power that high.

http://www.ws6.com/mod-4.htm
custom87blackbird
thats bc the peak power of the LT1 is that high, TPI has longer runners that create higher velocities at a lower RPM, the same gains would be seen at a lower rpm bc the air is moving faster at a lower RPM.

remember all the air foil does is smooth out the air goining into the plenum thats all....dont expect huge gains, its just alil something that can help
97 Formula
I have one on my LT1 and experienced pretty much what everyone else already said. A bit better throttle response, maybe a little more on the upper RPM range, but that's it. Don't expect a huge increase in power, but every little bit helps.
