Full Version: Seafoam?

I'm hearing about Seafoam which is like a "backyard" fuel-injector/crankcase cleaning done at Jiffy Lube, etc. My car as 23,600 miles and runs like a champ. I never used Seafoam, but I've switched to Mobil1 Synthetic around 6000-7000 miles, never went beyond 2000 miles on any oil change, use BP Ultimate all the time, and occasionally used Techron fuel system cleaner.

What do you want to know about Seafoam? How to use it, if you should use it, what?

If I should use it.

Since you say that your car is running like a champ I really wouldn't both with it but it's up to you. It's not going to hurt anything to run it through your car. And you don't have to take it anyplace either to have it done. Most good auto parts stores carry it. All you need to do is follow the instructions on the bottle.

Seafoam makes several different products but the one you've probably been hearing the most about is the Seafoam engine treatment/cleaner. It's used to clean fuel injectors/carbs, clean up carbon deposits, clean the PCV, it helps remove moisture from the fuel system and oil, etc. Here's a link to the page about the engine treatment: http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm and also a link to the Seafoam website: http://www.seafoamsales.com/. Just click on 'Our Products' to see what they all have.

Hope that helps you out.

If you should ever decide to run SeaFoam through your engine, I suggest using "TransTune" instead of thier Engine treatment. It's the same formula just in a stronger concentration.

I use the Dodge Chamber conditioner. I will get the part number. You can do the same thing with Seafoam. Just spray it in the intake while the car is running, but do not let it choke out. After emptying the can, shut the vehicle off for about two hours, longer if you wish. Start the car, but remember it will be a little harder to start. After that, you will create a white out. You let the car idle until all of the white smoke clears from the exhaust. That is pretty much how I do it. Have I noticed a difference doing it that way? No, but I am constantly cleaning my engine inside to help keep it going strong.

Hope that helps.
