Heading home from class, I ran into a Grand Cherokee (Jeep) SRT-8. Having never ran one of these before, I decided to see if he was game by revving at a light. He was, and we both punched it around a turn. Even though my Trac was off, I had a FULL tank of gas so the rear trac. was good. Didn't matter though. My basically stock LS1 is officially no match for the veritable SRT-8. I've never seen a stock SUV go so fast. I kept pretty close to him, about a car length behind. We talked at the next light and he was surprised I was able to keep so close, he even asked if I was stock or if I had engine mids. Apparently his friend has a 98-00 LS1 that isn't nearly as able to keep up. We parted ways at the next intersection.

Overall, I'd say the SRT-8 is definitely a contender. I'm sure I could have pulled on him if I had some standard mods.

Wow,I'll definitly keep my eye's peeled for one of those.

Was it a 4wd?

A friend of mine had a diesel Chevy 3/4 ton 4wd that will flat haul tail
especially in 4wheel cause the power pulls all 4 with no wheel spin - it really goes
he has a few mods that help it out

so now r u gonna get a few mods?

those things are no joke. I watched one bust off a 13.7 at 100mph at the track once with paper tags ohmy.gif

Of all the SRT8 vehicles the Jeep is the Quickest. AWD and 3.73's makes them a Bullit from a Light But they tend to lose speed towards the top end.
There was a couple Chrysler Engineers out cruising Woodward last year. They had a SRT8 Cherokee with a special PCM calibration. And they were terrorizing a few guys with the old C5 ZO6's

Ya... they are a terror. I would expect that a C6 would probably keep right up with it (non Z51). As for mods, I'd love to get some, but I'm saving up so my Honey and I can have an amazing wedding. I'm also a part time worker, full time student. Maybe after I graduate... but then I'll probably buy a Vette once I get my feet on the ground. My Dad's planning to buy the Bird off me then... he'll probably make some alterations (he can't wait ;P)
