It was last year in the weeks coming up the the Dream Cruise that Me and my wife were cruising up Woodward for a last loop before going Home Don't remember if my Daughter was with us or not.
But I spy a nice `89 or so White LX 5.0 that looks Stock (when is the last time you saw a nice STOCK 5.0)
Driver appears to be mid to upper 20's and his Car is super clean As I was admiring his car he throws me a rev and gooses his car forward. well I'm not the Street Racer that I used to be and I let it go but He is being really Persistant and keeps dogging me for a few miles. Finally I say enough is enough and we end up catching a light. Signal turns Green but we both roll out easy
in 1st. I bait him with a quik throttle tip and he's off ahead of me As he pulls ahead I go WFO and instantly come even to him 5800 rpm and I pull for 2nd. I pull a car and a half on him through 2nd and shut it down and as usual he does the Mustang turnoff Go figure, he wouldn't even let me compliment his Car.

Way to get him! Sounds like it was a pretty easy win, but you never know about a 5.0, like you said most probably aren't stock anymore. However, there is a stock '88 5.0 hatchback 'stang sitting right beside my T/A right now. It took quite a while to find it, but it is here now(my gf's car). As for lining it up beside my LS1 car, nah, won't happen. My gf doesn't race and even if she did, I don't wanna hurt her feelings. However I'm steady trying to talk her into running her '88 against my '88 Formula when I get it back together ninja.gif gears.gif

Nice Kill! Yeah those 5.0's are nothing when they are stock. But Jon is right, those modded ones out there can pack a serious punch! I've seen some real beefed up 5.0's around where i live and they will give the LS1's a good run for their money. But...in my opinion...no matter how fast somebody can make a 5.0, i still think they look kinda funky lol
