I just wanted to share the news that i ordered a new SLP Air Lid about 30 minutes ago and it is officially going to be my 2nd performance modification to the T/A! I know most of you are thinking "uhhhh okaaaayy???" but it is just exciting for me cause i enjoy adding goodies here and there to the car! Anyways, just thought i would share. I know i wont get much out of the lid, but i hear it increases throttle response as well as a VERY subtle power increase. I think it will make the engine bay look more clean and it will work more efficiently with the K&N filter i have and the SLP exhaust...who knows what kinda power i'll get from it. Probably not a significant amount but oh well...every little bit helps!!!!

Theres a little thing under the filter to cut out too.
Know about that?
Helps air flow
Another cheapie is the coolant TB bypass
and 160' thermostat but you kind of need a programer (not cheap) to lower the fan settings too
AMW catch cans are cool for the PCV line
Congrats on your new mod!

Congrats on your newest mod, even if it is just the lid, cause like you said every little bit of extra HP counts.
All those mods that Formyla listed are good ones too.

Thanks guys! Formyla: Good list of cheap mods! Actually i was debating about my next mod, i can't seem to decide between the Hypertech w/ the 160 stat or long tube headers...any opinions? It would be great to hear from you guys what the next mod i do should be in your opinions (So far i have the SLP lid w/ K&N filter and the SLP loudmouth exhaust)

Forget the Hypertech, waste if you ask me. ave you thought of any suspension mods? Subframe connectors are a great idea, panhard bar, lower control arms, and the torque arm would help. They are all little mods, financial around $150 - $200 each, but will dramatically change the feel of your car. New shocks and springs to get that aggressive stance. Bigger brakes to get it all to slow. The list goes on and on.

The freebies will get you 5-10hp
Suspension is always good to do
If you do the long tubes and 160 find a local shop to do the tune - shouldnt cost more than $200
Sometimes you can find a hypertech for sale cheap. They are ok for fan switch setting tire size and gear changes but other than that I doubt you'll see any gain.

A hotter engine would atomize the fuel better
The 160 Tstat allows you to get more gas in the engine to make more power...

For a 91 i believe you need a chip. It was not until 93 that you could use a programmer.

I'm thinking 93's were chipped too.

Up through 1993 you needed a chip. 1994-2002 you could reprogram.

Yay i got the lid in the mail today and put it on in about 30 minutes...it was a REALLY easy mod! I have it on the car with the K&N filter which will allow it to get as much air in as possible. Oh man i can't wait till tomorrow when i have more time to clean up the front of the engine where it was covered by the silencers, cause it's a bit dirty! Already drove it around quite a bit today...i can't really notice much of a difference in horsepower however it seems to pull a little bit harder. But the throttle is definitely more responsive and doesn't lag as much as it used to! I like that!!!
Okay...time for the next mod

so the 160 stat thats in my 91 will hane no purpose w/o a chip??? i know it will help the engine run cooler but w a chip will it be better??? what does the chip do for the 160 stat?

The chip will work better with the 160 stat because it will alter the embedded computer in your car to readjust to the new stat. The car will be running cooler, so what the chip does is recalibrate the car to whatever specs it has to in order to keep the car from running rich and all that good stuff. Basically, without the chip the car will run pretty rich (you'll have lots of black inside your exhaust tips) and your gas mileage will suffer some.
