Hey guys, whats up? Im curious about the WS6 ram air package that was available on I think 98 to 02 FB Formys and T/A's. I really dont know anything about them, and was curiious as to whether anyone can tell me about them. Is it possible to convert a formula to have the ws6? and if so how much would it cost? Thanks! smile.gif

yea you can do it. you are gonna need a new hood and raised lower air box. thats pretty much all it consist of. you dont NEED a new lower air box but i dont see the point in keeping the non-ramair one. the hood is probably gonna run you about 500-600 new and maybe cheaper off of a car getting parted out. the lower air box should be much... once again... parted out bird or camaro will get you that. and if you cant find the right color hood... paint will costs as well. i dont think its worth it personally... not until you have opened the engine up atleast. i mean like LS6 IM, full exhaust... just my .02

Well actually the WS6 package was a performance and handling package, which did include the ram air functional hood. If you want to make your formula have a ram air hood that is functional, you can do that fairly easy, all you need is the cash. But in order to make the entire car the same as a WS6, you will need to do a bit more work. The WS6 package also includes thicker sway bars, stiffer suspension, a better flowing exhaust, and the 275 wheels with the WS6 rims. Also the WS6 badge that goes on the back is not cheap (around 120 bucks) To convert a stock LS1 to the WS6 with all brand new parts, you are probably looking at a cost of over $3k

If you want just the ram air, you can actually go onto ebay and get a ram air lower box for around 20 bucks. I've seen many on there for cheap

yea... he specifically asked for ram-air... which is why i explained that part lol. and yes he can go and order a raised lower air box... but without cutting into his hood its meaningless.

Actually Sean, USAF FIREBIRD asked about the WS6 ram air package, which includes not only the ram air hood but all of the other items that Freshbake mentioned. And he's also correct about the price, to do the whole WS6 ram air package (from hood to exhaust to suspenion) will cost close to $3k, especially if you don't go with the lower end cheap parts.

whoa calm down Boss man. it just looks like we were answering 2 different questions. first he asked about the ram-air package. then he asked about just converting to a WS6 all together... looks like we just answered 2 different questions. no need to be so firm lol.

but i do have a question... does "WS6 ram-air package" really include all of that? like suspension and what not? i guess i'm asking a question about what term to use when saying a car is a WS6.

Haha, yeah i can see where all the confusion came from, cause he did call the WS6 package the "ram air" package. Reality is that the ram air is just another little goodie in the entire WS6 package. To answer your question Sean, yes, any car that is a true WS6 will have much more than just the ram air hood and airbox.

Ram Air hood
WS6 raised lower air box
32mm front sway bar
1LE springs (for '98, '99, and some '00s)
WS6 badging & Ram Air decals
Lower restriction catback
17" high polished wheels w/ 275/40/ZR17 tires (i believe you can also get the 16" chrome rims, as Sue has told me before when i first bought my WS6)
Jounce spacers for 17X9" wheels
Power steering cooler

Also, on pretty much every WS6 i have seen has the 3.23 rear end gearing...and i'm pretty sure that every WS6 is fully loaded with all the options as well :-)

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to sound so harsh. Just been a long couple of days around my place. And btw, last time I checked, I'm a Boss Woman, not a Boss Man. wink.gif

It's cool. No harm no foul on calling me a dude. It isn't the first time it's happened and I'm sure it won't be the last time either. As for getting into cars. I've always been into them and been working on them since I was about 5 or 6 years old, which is a long time for me (and no I won't tell you how old I am. laugh.gif) But I love all 4 of mine and wouldn't trade any of them in for the world.
