I know this is a standard f-body problem, when the mileage gets up there all the nuts and bolts seem to shake loose and cause everything in interior to rattle ( a little over exageration). I mostly annoying by the loose hatch. Does anyone know how to tighten down the hatch? It sounds like it bounces when i drive down bumpy roads. Im pretty sure its the hatch, ive pushed on it and there is some play. It seems like the ball joints for the hydraulic arms have too much play in them. any way to fix this?

aside from the hatch, has anyone ever just gone around and tried to tighen up everythign in their interior. I shakey interior really makes the car seem chinsy.

What you might want to try is to adjust the bumpers on the hatch. To do that you just need to turn them counterclockwise to bring them out a bit. That might help keep the hatch tighter. If it is the hatch struts there really isn't anyway to fix them as far as I've found except to replace them.

As far as finding and fixing the interior rattles, with my cars, the things that I've found that rattle the most are the speaker covers/grills (a little electrical tape on the taps for the covers/grills cured those rattles); the seat belt latches (just have to make sure they aren't in a position on the belt where they can hit against anything hard or plastic); the two removable side panels in the hatch area (some very thin foam tape run along the whole underside edge of both cured that for me); the jackstand and jack handle (about the only thing you can do with those is to make sure they're tightened down or if you don't use it is to remove both of them from the car); the dome light cover by the rear hatch (a little tape on the tabs for it cured the problem) and the rear hatch panel that you can move up and down that covers the hatch hole (make sure both of the bumpers for it are there to hold it tight in place when it's up, also get some dark colored self adhesive felt and put it around the two metal studs on each side where it "locks" into the the removable side hatch pieces. I found that over time with moving that piece up and down to access the hole that the U shaped spots on the removable pieces gets bigger and it allows the hatch panel to jiggle and move. Putting the felt pieces on the hatch panel metal studs makes them slightly bigger and it keeps it from moving around and also keeps any rattles or squeaks from it to a bare minimum). Hope that helps you quite down some of the annoying rattles that you hear.
