Nothin major, just decided to replace my hatchback shocks. The old shocks held up the low profile hatchback easily but this new hatchback weighs a bit more and the shocks couldnt hold it. Was definately a PITA to put the TTops up in the hatch back with it falling down. Thay ran right around $23 bucks each so not really pricey but just enough to take a lil bit outta your pocket.

I feel your pain, literally. My hood struts are worn out. Sometime they hold, other times they don't. I’ve been conked on the head a couple times during those "other times". Plus, holding your hood up at meets with a 1x2 just doesn’t get it...lol. It's on the to-do list.

Post that in the tips and trick forum. That is a great idea.

I hesitate to, only because someone will inevitably get bent out of shape (so to speak) when someone creases their hood trying to close it.

That is a good idea, especially as a temporary solution, until you can change them. But like you said I'd be afraid of someone trying to close the hood or the hatch with those in there and then either of them being damaged so I'd only use them at home. Anyplace else, I'd just use my hand to keep them open.

But you saying that about the copper tubing got me to thinking. I wonder if a piece of stiff, fairly tight fitting rubber tubing could be used in place of the copper tubing? You could cut it to fit the full length of lower part of the strut, split it down the side and then slide it onto the lower part. It should be strong enough to keep the hood/hatch open, but if someone would try to close either of them it should be flexible enough to split open again under enough pressure to come off the lower part and let the hood/hatch close without any damage.

Damn, really good solution! smile.gif
