i got a set of ZR1 vette rims for my TA. I don't think i will have much trouble with the (17x11) rears, but i am worried about the (17x9.5) for the front. I know i will need adapters for the front but what size? and will i need to mod. the front wheel wells any? And if this becomes a problem i might just have a set of ZR1 rims for sale or trade..HA..HA...HA.HA

Spacers for the front? Havent heard that one yet. Just throw them on there, see if they rub (which they should not) and go from there.

LOL sorry i missed that, i dont see any reason why they wouldnt bolt right up, i saw somewhere one time that the 98+ 16 inch chrome ta and formula wheels wouldnt work on 97- cars but i dont know if theres any truth in that

^All 4th gen wheels are interchangeable... I have never heard otherwise.

Actually Greg, that isn't true. The early 4th gens had larger hub centers on the axles then the later 4th gen models which had smaller hub centers. So if you want to put any of the newer stock rims on an early car you need to make the center hold of the rim a bit larger to fit onto the larger hub. Other then that you shouldn't have any problems interchanging any year 4th gen rim.

bbhuey2000:

Received your e-mail. The 17x9.5" 56mm wheels will bolt directly to the front and the rear with NO spacers or adapters of any kind. The link I gave you to my FAQ post on CamaroZ28.com does not indicate any sort of spacer or adapter would be required.

I smell a tech article on the back spacing from Injuneer.

I tried putting the 17x9.5 on the front and the inside of the rim hangs up on the upper a-arm ( i think thats what it is called) and the car wont sit back down.

They should fit with no problems. I have a set of ZO-6 5 spoke rims on mine wich are 18 x 11 I believe. It is possible for them to hit the upper control arm but they shouldnt unless the car was lowered or if you have some really large/tall tires on them. There is a chance of the back lip of the rim hitting the spindle where it comes up to the control arm but it should clear if it is the factorry rim. Is there any chance they are not factory ZR-1 wheels? You can purchase the aftermarket knock offs with different back spacing which could cause a clearance issues.

okay i feel like an a$$ now.. after reading all these posts saying that they WOULD fit i went out and tried them again..guess what they fit..there is VERY little room between the spindle and the inside of the rim but no rubbing at all and when i turn the wheel hard over there is no rubbing in the wheel well. i might run into trouble rubbing the spindle if i am going fast and launch the car in the air smile.gif but other than that i should be okay. thanks for all the help and again sorry for my dumba$$ mistake. once i get the rear end back in (hopefully this weekend) ill post some picks with the new tires.
