Well,

I accidentially bumped a pole that was painted yellow and got yello waint all over the front drivers side of the bumper cover( near the side marker light)

So I broke out the polising compound and used ALOT of elbow grease and it only did an ok job. Then my wife says "Try This" It was an MrClean Magic Eraser. It is used throughout the house when one of our kids uses crayon on the walls or table or door and I used it with almost NO effort. I mean I was just sliding it along the surface and it came right off.

It only uses Water and this material that somehow gets the paint off but leaves your original paint perfect.

I read the box and there isn't any ingredients. it doesn't have ammonia or anothing in it. it says it is a new material that with just water gets under the non wanted stuff and leaves your finish perfect.

Well, I can say it works awesome. with no ill affects. I washed the area afterwards and re-applied some wax and it looks like I never bumped it.

Oh there was also NO dents or anything that is how easy I scraped the pole.

So, Try it if you every have to it works great.

Have fun

Cool. Sounds like it's something that I'll have to get. I wonder since it took off the paint how it would work on getting off rubber from the lower quarter panels after doing burnouts at the track to heat up the tires since that stuff is a royal pita to get off or even how it would work on the nose clip getting off those nasty bugs that always seem to build up after a road trip. Hummmmmm, the possibilities.

Sue, there is a spray you can put on your rear quarters that makes the rubber come right off. I forget the name of it though.

This stuff is pretty awesome though I never thought I was goign to get it off.

Have fun

Doug, see if you can remember the name of that spray if you can. I've tried some of the ones on the market for that and so far I've been very disappointed with the ones I've tried. The rubber didn't seem to be any easier to get off using them then if I'd used nothing at all. I know people who also just use the spray-on cooking spray stuff (ie PAM) on the lower quarters. I haven't tried that myself cause that stuff can be a pain to get off pans so I can't see how it can be any easier to get off my car. wacko.gif

Nice though that you got the paint off easy with it since I know paint scrapes can be a tough thing to get off without damaging the paint (and clear coat) under it.

Thanks for the tip.

WD40 will remove rubber and tar without harming paint, works well on bugs too. Prolly a good idea to wax over where you sprayed the WD40 though. In Florida we have what everyone affectionately refers to as "love bugs". I don't honestly know what they are really called, but the suckers have some kind of acidic guts. If you don't get them off right away they eat into your paint. Works great on them.

That Magic Eraser has shown up a few times on hard to clean items. I have used it on pitted chrome rims to get them smooth and clean, on paint that my exhaust turned black from the richness and flames, and works wonders on windows too(I do not recommend this as a daily habit, it may eventually scratch).
Good to hear it can remove paint scrapes, I have a few I will need to do this on. Nothing else i tried worked.

I agree too much and you can scrath the surface. I use my Clay bar after them did wax. I see no issue with it once in a while for hard to remove stuff.

it is time for paint on my car after 14 years anyway. Next spring itis getting a new coat of arctic white and all the stripes and decals are goign back on as the car looks awesome

Sue as for the rubber remover here is what Iused to use with great results

Cool. Thanks Doug. I'll have to get some and try that one cause I don't think I've tried it yet.

Magic Eraser is great! Good also for cleaning stubborn brake dust off wheels. They sell one for wheels in the auto section, but I think its the same as the kitchen one.
I'll try it on my poor rusty chrome rims....

Also, Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover works good on bugs and road slop - maybe use for rubber too? The nice thing is that although you do have to use a little elbow grease, it leaves a coat of wax on, so it's one step instead of 2.

Good suggestions i have a good buildup of tire rubber on my quarters.
