Ok so i got a 2000 T/A WS6 3:73 gears, hooker longpipe headers, hooker y pipe, and been reprogrammed. I have only lost one race against my best friend who has a SS that has had a little more work than mine, but only by about half a car length. The question I got is how can I get better traction in this thing? Its an auto and every single time I nail it, it spins real bad. I've thought about getting some Mickey Thompson street slicks but not sure how much that will help. So your input would be great.

Short answer - better tires are the single biggest traction adder you can get other than AWD, which you don't see too many f-bodies with that huh.gif

I heard/read stories of the MT drag radials getting as good if not better traction in most circunstances than even their ET Streets.

welcome.gif to TFS! I hope you enjoy yourself here. If you have any questions about your car or the site, please feel free to post them up and someone will be able to help you out.

But yea tires can make a big difference on how well your car will hook up. I've got both Nittos and ET Streets that I use on my 4th gens. Both hook up good and are street legal but be advised that if you drive your car alot neither of them will last very long on a the streets.

Another thing, it sounds like you've still got the stock suspension on your car. Upgrading the suspension, especially the stuff on the rear, will help alot with the car hooking up too.

What kind of suspension do you suggest using with my WS6? I was under the impression the suspension kit on the WS6 was supposed to be pretty good.

Yea the WS6 does have an upgraded suspension system on it but you've got to remember this - your car is a 2000 model and the 2008 car models are coming out now so that means that the suspension parts on your car are now 8 years old and no matter how good they are they do wear out over time and need to be replaced. Also items such as bushings, bearings, other parts that are rubber or that "carry a load" degrade over time and lose their effectiveness. Another thing is that the lower control arms (LCAs or trailing arms) on our cars are just "stamped" parts and they do twist (for a lack of a better word). Another thing I don't own a WS6 myself but I know several people who do, and even they have changed items such as the Panhard rod/bar and LCAs on their cars to aftermarket ones that are stronger and get rid of some of the wheel hop that our cars are knows for.

As for what type of get, it really all depends on what type of money you have to play with but the brands that come to mind are Spohn, Hotchkiss (sp?), BMR and Edelbrock. You can find those ones and other ones on places such as Summit, ThunderRacing, Jegs, SpeedInc, etc. You just have to look those places up and then do a search on their sites for the parts.

Hope that helps some.

I see you're from South Carolina. You can also try Herron Performance ( https://securehost98.hrwebservices.net/~herronp/store/ ). The website is still growing but you can get ahold of Shon and he'll help you pick out parts and get you some good prices too. He's in the upstate of SC and is a good guy to deal with. This is just a little side business he runs out of his home so he's not trying to make a lot of money off of sales.

I will be over here until probably around May. Our deployment is 12 months in country over here.

Ah ok, so you'll be getting back around the same time my son/in/law will be getting back. His deployments run 7 to 8 months.
