I was on my way home from the gym at my college last night around 10:30 or so and on the way home i came up on a Daytona Charger R/T (the orange and black version). I didn't plan on racing because there was still alot of traffic on the road and i am having transmission problems, so i just was riding beside him driving normally and slowly passed him (my lane was moving faster than his). Then his lane sped up a bit and he slowly past me and some bald weirdo with a goatee (who was the passenger) started screaming out the window "your car sucks, that thing is slow...get a real car!!!" and i was just like "uhhhhhhhh" and i smiled at him and just shook my head. We went driving down the road for about another 10 minutes with this crazy jerk of a guy screaming things out his window at me (i just had my music loud like usual and my windows almost all the way up) and eventually i got lucky and we both hit a red light with us at the front. The guy started saying "ready to get toasted????" and screaming at me like a nutjob. I torqued up the car a bit by powerbreaking to about 1700rpm or so, and as soon as the light turned i got on it, gently at first so not to lose traction. Then once i got at the top of 1st i just gunned it...the charger never had a chance LOL!!! I just smoked him off the line and continued to pull and pull. I thought those things were decently quick, but wow they are slow!!! Anyways, just wanted to post this on here since i am happy to shut up that jerk about his buddy's car after insulting me and my baby

your car is slow? Those (new) Chargers are slow. Probably because they are so darn heavy. I killed a Charger SRT on the highway once, and I don't mean just pulled away, I mean I wasted him. Surpised me, supposedly the SRT version has 425hp, my car isn't even close!

The new Hemi sucks. Everytime I see one I am in my truck. I guess they think they can win against an 8000lb truck. I guess I should not tell them I have beaten Mustangs? My TA will pull a Ford Lightning everytime, unless they have nitrous and a smaller pulley combo. I guess the Charger is not much to worry about.

One problem with the new Hemi is they are made in Mexico, taking away American jobs.
Two, they aren't really Hemi's, as in hemispherical combustion chamber like the old ones.

Nice kill! I too, was surprised at how slow the Hemis are. I whooped a very nice looking, and sounding, Magnum R/T.
They're an easy kill, even for a old LT1 with 125,ooo miles.

Oh yes i also once was messing around back and fourth with a Magnum R/T a while ago, never got to actually race it tho, but yeah they do sound very nice....too bad they have no bite to go with the bark. I have to say, ever since the charger was released i thought it was a HUGE disappointment all together. First off....the Dodge Charger used to have a very large name for itself, and was one of the sweetest looking and performing cars around back when they first were around. Now, they are some huge family sedan with four doors?? And to top that off...they are slooooooowwwwwwww. I am in love with the older chargers, the new ones are a joke and destroy the name "dodge charger".

All Hemi Cars R/T and SRT come with a mandatory 2.82 axle. Combine that with a car that weigh's about 4100 lb's ands you get the point.

That ratio ought to give them a high top end but they are probably speed limited

The cops areound here have a couple black ones for under cover. They like to taunt people into races to give them tickets.

Yeah i hate jerk cops that do that. My friend got busted when he had his old 96 RS Camaro. Some blue mustang with blue tint pulled up to him at like 1:30 at night with no other cars on the road, and kept revving at him....and of course my friend gunned it as soon as the light turned. Next thing he knew he was getting a ticket for reckless driving. It's so messed up....

i recently got into a tangle with a impala SS or was it a malabu SS? ah, they all look alike these days. but i nailed it and amazingly i was right there with him the whole way. i also got into a tangle with a GTO and was suprised at how well i stayed with him also. both incidents my front wheel was next to their back door. BTW this was out in the country on a 4 lane hwy.
i assumed both cars would be faster.
