I have an MP3 player I would like to hook up to my factory 10 speaker system I have in my 97 Trans Am. The MP3 player has RCA cables (I think theyre called that, the white and red plugs) for an audio out. Would there be any way to wire up the MP3 player to the wiring that runs to the cd changer in the trunk? That way I dont have to mess with the head unit and I can make a blank dummy cd with a silent track when I want to listen to the mp3 player.

hmmm i've never heard of this being done before. I dont have the disc changer in the back of my car. But i can tell you that there is no way to hook it up to your stock headunit. You wouldn't be able to control your mp3 player either if its in the trunk. Your best option would be to buy one of the radio transmitters that just plug into the headphone jack of the mp3 player and set it to an AM preset station and just have it transmit through your radio. It wont be clear as a direct connection obviously, but the only other option i can think of is to get an aftermarket headunit that will allow for a direct MP3 connection.

Yeah I guess it might be too much work anyway and Im going to replace all the speakers so I may as well do the head unit too with an aux in port
