I was on Ebay browsing through the Firebird/Trans Am today seeing that were real busy here at work, anyway I came across two 94 Trans Am with the 115MPH speedometer cluster huh.gif . I thought all the V8 models had the 155MPH cluster? Was there something different about the 94 year? Somebody want to shed some light.

Since I can never post a web page correctly, here are the item numbers on Ebay if you want to check it out:

Some cars had a lowered speed limiter compared to the rest. These cars are identified by the 115 mph speed-O as you seen and they do not have the same speed rated tires (Z rated is the norm I think). I suppose these were offered to keep insurance ratings down or to meet some state regulations.I dont know why for sure.

I'm not sure why the lower rated speedometers were offered either but Tyler is correct. To get the 155 speedo you needed to have ordered the Z rated tires (QLC rpo code). Otherwise the car would come with regular rated passenger tires and the 115 speedo.
