My 95 Formula conv. leaks on the driver side and passenger side windows need some ideals, top is in very good condition.

with verts some leaking is inevitable but when does it leak? Does water get in just from a normal rain or is it only when the area is sprayed directly like when washing the car? I'd start with the weatherstripping, make sure it's not torn and isn't worn out and needing to be replaced. Maybe just tweaking the weather stripping will help. Something else you can do is adjust the windows since they might not be seating up against the stripping properly. Go out there with a hose and see if you can isolate where the water is getting in and go from there cool.gif

Like Pyro said with 'verts some leaking is inevitable as it is with most f-bodies over time but there are some things that can contribute to it. Some of those things you can fix yourself, others that you need someone to fix for you unless you're good with body work while others you just have to learn to live with.

But like Pyro said, when do you see the leak? Is it when you're washing your car or having it washed? In a heavy rain? When you're driving your car in the rain? When the car is just sitting there and it's raining? Also how much water is getting in? Is it just a little or is it alot? Your answers to those can help us try and figure out what's going on and possibly how to fix it. But until then here's some things that might be causing the problem and how you or someone else can try and fix it:

If the window isn't sealing tight against the weatherstripping you can try to adjust the window, here's a link on how to do that: http://shbox.com/1/adj_window.html

If the weatherstripping is getting old and not sealing right, you can find replacement weatherstripping kits and replace that yourself.

Another thing that can lead to the windows leaking is the doors sagging. That's caused by the weight of the doors over time pulling on the door hinges and causing the door to be slightly out of alignment. The only way to fix that is to have someone who knows what they're doing, like a body shop, replace the door hinges (cause the holes in the hinges oval out). I wouldn't recommend you doing this yourself or by yourself since it can be a pita if you don't know what you're doing plus the door on our car weight a ton.

Also I've seen alot of our cars, no matter what type of top they have (hardtop, 'vert or t-top), leak where the "T" joint/seam is where the window, front A pillar and the top meet and so far I haven't seen anyone who's been able to figure out how to fix that leak since it seems to be a design flaw.

I know this sounds stupid but if I armor-all the weather stripping on my t-tops it leaks like crazy. Otherwise it seals tight. That could contribute to your leaking issues.

Actually don't use ArmorAll or similar products on the weatherstripping cause there's something in those products that over time that can cause the rubber to deteriorate. You shouldn't use it on your tires for the same reason. I've been told that from not only several GM techs that I know but several body guys as well.

What you want to use on the weatherstripping is silicone, either the spray type or the type you can sometimes find in a tube/bottle. What I use is the spray type and this is what I do.

I take a rag, wrap part of it around a couple of my fingers and then spray the silicone onto the rag where my fingers are. Then I wipe the rag over all of the weatherstripping making sure to coat all of it with a really good coat of silicone. I then let the silicone sit for at least 10 minutes (usually the amount of time it takes to do all of the weatherstripping around the car) so that it can "soak" into the rubber. Once I've got silicone on all the weatherstripping I go back and wipe off any excess silicone that's still visible on the weatherstripping after that "10 minutes". Doing that keeps the excess from getting on the glass and making a mess. So far, after 5 years of doing this, all the weatherstripping on all my cars is still in great shape with no hardening, cracking, splitting or anything else.

It leaks in a heavy rain and depending on the direction on the rain that is the window that leaks it's coming from the top where the conv. top meets the top corners of the windshield

I'm not real familiar with the 'verts but to me it sounds like the top isn't coming down quite far enough or tight enough to make a good seal with the weatherstripping across that part of the windshield. However I'm not sure how you would adjust the top to make a tighter seal. Sorry sad.gif

I've never owned an f-body vert but on the other verts I've owned the latches that clamp the top down to the winshield were adjustable. Like Sue said, they might just not be clamping down tight enough and adjusting them might help.
