Im wondering if a set of 275/45/16s will fit on the stock 16x8 "swirly" rims. They have 245/50s on it now and i want a wider tire on the back.

BTW im new here and just bought the Formula thursday, im loving it biggrin.gif

I'm thinking you need a 9.5 width rim... but go to a tire place and ask to be sure.

What wheel width is required is determined by the tire manufacturer. You need to pick a tire, then see if the manufacturer recommends your stock 8.0" wheel width. As noted in the first response, there just aren't a lot of wider 16" street tires. Road racing slick are available, but not true street tires. BFG makes a few wide 16" tires in their "Radial T/A" series, but that is an mid-performance level, all-season tire. And, most of them are too large in diameter to fit a 4th Gen.

If you like wide tires, go to 17x11's with 315/35's on them.....

on mustangs the 315s look amazing, but i dont like how the rear looks on the firebird with that wide of tire, 275s are bout perfect, maybe the rear need the trans am deck to finish the look i dono. but DANG those are some meaty tires biggrin.gif
