I had a similar issue in my 97, I'd hit a bump and the radio, along with the power windows, would quit working for a short time and then they'd start working again. For me the problem ended up being a bad connection on the BCM/ECM.

But what could be wrong is a bad connection on the back of the radio, a bad R.A.P. (retianed accessory power) module or a bad BCM/ECM.

Here's a link showing the location of the R.A.P. module: http://shbox.com/1/express_down1.jpg and the BCM/ECM is located behind the access/knee kick panel that under the glove box. (sorry don't have a pic for that)

Hey Sue, with that "Bad Connection" did you have to replace anything or just plug it in tighter?

I had to replace the BCM/ECM since the connectors on it are hard wired/soldered in place and it was a couple of the pins on the connector that were the problem.

Also it wasn't cheap to replace, the BCM/ECM costs around $300 (depending on where you get it) and then you have to take it to the dealer to have them "program" the new one once it's installed which is around $100. Oh and once you get the new one in you get 1 "free start" with it which is enough to get it from wherever the car is at to the dealer. After that you're screwed so if you do replace it don't figure you'll be able to put it in, start the car, shut if off and then restart it and take it to the dealer to be programmed cause it won't work. At least that's how it is with the OBD II cars, not sure about the OBD I cars.

Youch... I hope it's my RAP module then....
SassySue09
Yea, the RAP modules aren't really that bad, plus you don't need to do anything but change them out.
