Full Version: LEAK?!?!

Well, I went out to start my bird today just to keep the battery and fluids and whatnot running since I don't drive it much in winter...... and to my dismay, I discovered a pool of water on the floor behind the driver's seat. I KNOW my door doesn't leak because the weather seals and window sweeps are relatively new and I've washed it both by hand and at car washes lately and had no visible leaks or water pooling up in the doorwell... or at least none coming through the door.... could this be condensation maybe? The weather has been humid lately, but not much rain to speak of. I have rubber floor mats front and back also and the top of them is bone dry, so I'm not sure how this is happening. Could it be leaking through the floor somehow? I can't figure out where it's coming from. Anyone else ever have this problem? It's ONLY on the floor behind the driver's seat... Any help would be greatly appreciated. My car is too young to rust away! sad.gif

Right under the brake booster against the firewall is a rubber plug. I ran a power cable thru it once for an amp. I then had water in the floorboard behind the drivers seat. It seems that this plug is right in a drainage path for water,so if it's bad,any water from outside that goes down the edge of the hood will flow right into the car.

Hmm.. the car came with a pretty nice stereo, so I haven't done anything except update the head unit. I'll have to check out the wiring for it...thanks

I'm thinking it's leaked all along but with it sitting it's been able to accumulate to where you notice it. It could be leaking it a little around the window or door, or the hatch or from up front like tyler said and just running down under the carpet where you don't notice. I'd pull the carpet up where it's wet so it can dry out. Actually it might not hurt if you have time to pull the carpet out and do around the car with a hose and search for the leak.
