4thtimes charm
yesterday was our annual carclub track day at the local 1/8th mile track. car is same set up as last year bone stock 132000miles original clutch tires less than marginal on the rear. temp was around 65 degrees and sunny. first run was tons of wheel spin all the way thru second and into third had to let out as to not hit the wall it got real squirly ran a 9.2 at 70. second run against a fellow 95 ta auto. spin again in first second hooked ran a 8.58 at 75 mph. oh the auto ran an 8.62 he beat me by .0692 seconds that's a close race got me on the reaction time. third run fresh dht on track hooked for once in first sideways in 2nd but wasn't about to let out this time ran an 8.567 got the win fourth run less slip best time of the day an 8.55. 5th run against a modded gran prix gtp. he got the jump but there's no replacement for displacement got the win with an 8.56 at 76 mph. last run of the day guys wanted me to see how far down the track i'd spin got it on video dumped the clutch at bout 2000 rpm started the spinning pegged on the rev limiter slammed 2nd stayed spinning till the rev limiter again looking at the wall as i go into third still spinning bout 4000 rpm in third car catches and i go thru the lights in 9.9 seconds at get this 67 mph laughing and looking back at the cloud of smoke i had just left and the applause of the spectators in the stands. I was proud of the old girl being bone stock and all i abused the crap out of the clutch and it never slipped or smelled hot however on the way home my thermostat stuck and had to replace that today. man it was a fun time. can't wait till the year one experience when i get to get it on the road course at road atlanta andthe drag strip and the atlanta dragstrip..will finally get some 1/4 mile times....cant wait cant wait cant wait

Your ET is good. Going by the 1/4 mile estimator ( 1/8 et X 1.55) you should run 13.20's. But the mph is down for that kind of time. I run 80-81mph thru the 1/8th but I dont run 13.20's.

Good deal, glad you had fun with the car and your club, and more fun on the horizon - LUCKY!!!!

You should be especially happy with that performance... my light-modded LS1 hasn't run better than 8.6 in the 1/8th. A bone stock LT1 car in the 8.5 1/8th / low 13 1/4 range is almost unheard of. You must have one of those factory freaks.

For whatever it's worth too, I'd really like to see the video of the 1/8th mile smokefest. That must be relly cool, and right up my alley. I saw something similar once, but no video exists that I know of sad.gif

Yea those are very good times for a stock LT1 car. My 97 runs similar times but it's got a few "tweeks" done to it.

Jon are you talking about the smoke show that a 99 done at your local track? If so I wish there was a video of it cause I'd love to have a copy of that. cool.gif
