So after I wash my car, or any type of moitsure is present on my windows, or even just if the sun hits it right, there is vertical streaks(for lack of a better word) on my driver's side window...at first, I thought it was only on my car, but now that Im looking more closely at other Fbodies, I've seen it exactly in the same spots as on my car...has anybody else noticed this? does anybody know whats it's from or anything you can do about it?

thanx

I have these as well...not sure what they are but they happen to me whenever i wash my car. They seem to be marked in there permanently now...I figure they are either from the windows rubbing against the weatherstripping, or whatever is connecting the weatherstripping. I can't think of anything else that's soft that would cause it. I know it's not something hard because my windows aren't actually scratched. They just seem "stained"....weird...

Are you both talking about the 2 vertical stripes that are on the windows? One towards the rear of the window, the other one more towards the front of it?

If so those are caused by the window guides that are on the door underneather where the rubber weatherstripping is. Those guides are covered with a "fuzzy" material and over time it "hardens" (for lack of a better word) and that "fuzzy" material is what causes the stripes or streaking.

ah yes that is exactly what it is!!! Is there any way to fix the streaking? I am somewhat out of luck since i re-tinted my windows with the streaks still on the glass so i can still sorta see them...hopefully the tint doesn't get messed up from those guides..

About the only thing I've found that sorta hides them is to use 'glass wax' on the windows to fill them in a bit. As for helping to keep them from messing up your tint, you can get new guides (might have to get them from a dealer since that's the only place I've been able to find them). But they're easy to replace. You just need to take off the inner door panel and you'll see them. Just remove the screws that hold them on, put the new ones on, make sure you position the new ones in the exact same position and distance from the window as the old ones and tighten down the screws, then replace the inner door panel.

I had to do that with my 97 since the old ones were trying to mess up my tint. Took me longer to get the inner door panel off and on then it did to replace the guides, go figure. laugh.gif

oh okay sounds good i may have to get some if they start to show signs of messing up my tint. And i know what you mean about taking off the panels...i've had to do it numerous times installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling speakers in both my old 95 formie and the T/A. I hate trying to get the little plastic "hooks" in the holes inside the door....always gives me problems.

Yea I have the same problem with those stupid little hooks on the panels. I don't know how many times I've had neighbor kids look at me funny while I've been trying to get them back on. Stupid censor.gif panels. laugh.gif
