Full Version: Am I going to notice a difference?

If I add an airfoil, vortech elbow(I know this will do next to nothing...), and a K&N cold air intake in one day, do you guys think I will I notice a change at all behind the wheel?

To be honest...if you notice a gain at all it will be from the CAI. The other two really won't be noticed. You'll probably have a small gain in HP from the mods, but to be honest when i put my CAI on my 95...i think the power increase that i noticed was in my head haha!! One thing i DID enjoy from the CAI was that i could hear my car sucking in the air when revved up, and it sounded pretty cool to me.

^what he said.
you won't notice a difference from the air foil and elbow but every little bit helps right?

the biggest difference would be in sound, you can hear the motor sucking, and i noticed my exhaust got a little deeper too. I didn't really notice much maybe a little better at the top end.

Like they said you'll see some gain from the CAI but not much really from the other two. You'd also see an addition bit of gain if you add a good air filter to the end of the CAI, something along the lines of a K&N or CoolBlue air filter, rather then keeping the stock filter on it.

What CAI system are you thinking of getting? SLP, Moroso, etc.

I actually had a little better throttle response from my air foil, then again...

What ever CAI you go with, I would recommend using some sheer nylons over it. (yes, panty hose) and that will help with keeping the filter cleaner longer. Also the elbow will help a little with heat soak, but it is so minute it would not even register. It is more cosmetic. With a stock exhaust, you will notice a little. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, you will notice a little more. Nothing to write home about.

After I put the 1LE elbow on, airfoil, bigger MAF, and the K&N FIPK II, I could drive the car in 6th under 55mph. I could not do that before hand with some sort of aftermarket exhaust (it was on the car when I got it).

I was planing on a k&N CAI, does it make much difference? I've looked at slp and moroso, but I figure theyd probably all be about the same so I went for the cheaper one and a brand I know I can trust when it comes to cai...

K&N is fine. And there really isn't much of a difference between them, mainly just the name and the price.

But all of those are good ones. I had experience with the Moroso CAI, it's good quality and I never had any problems with it. Matter of fact it's now on another car on this site and as far as I know it's still doing just fine.

I dunno, to me it just seems like K&N is the way to go...they seem to be like a suoer huge name and they gotta be big for a reason, right?
SLP does a lot of f body stuff, so I know that they would probablh have a good part, however, Im not a fan of the way it looks...to me it looks ricey and slender(same with the moroso) but the K&N looks brutal and beefy-like a part that should be under the hood of a muscle car and lingenfelter's looks like it should be on more of a sports car, not a muscle car...thats just my opinion though....

That's cool. It's best to get what you like and what you feel comfortable with.

But I've seen just about all of the ones out there and they all do the job that they're made for. The only one that I don't like (can't remember who makes it) is the one that has all the metal tubing on it since metal heats up and with a CAI you're trying to get more cool/cold air in not heated air like you will with all that metal tubing.
