First time owner of any GM car. 1999 TransAm, 18k, auto, T's, still smells new! That's about all I know. Bought my son his first car last year, a 2000 Z28 & I've been wanting a Z or TA ever since. Bought from dealer so don't know what all was done to it. From reading up on here I know it's not a ws6 but has the ram air hood with an aftermarket airbox. Looks to be functional but I don't know the diff between the stock airbox & the raised one. Looks to be stock exhaust up front (manifolds) but looks a lot diff than my sons 2000 Z manifolds. Where the Y comes together mid car it has a single bullet w/ turndown & dumps right there. Nice sound but fumes suck every I stop so that's getting redone. LT's & true duals from a local shop here as soon as I get the $. Looks like lots of good info on here so plan on spending a lot of time here reading. I'll get pics when I get my camera back but here's the pic the dealer had on thier website.

You'll love it everytime you get behind the wheel. Nice car.

welcome.gif to TFS! I hope you enjoy yourself here. If you've got any questions about your car or the site feel free to post them up. I'm sure that someone here will be able to help you out.

Nice looking car btw. I can't wait to see more pics of it.

Also can you fill in your Tech Tool Tray with the info about your car that you know about. That way when you post questions about it we won't have to keep asking you if it's an automatic or manual, any mods etc. We can just look in there. Thanks

Hey welcome to the site! There's a great and very knowledgeable group of people here so definitely stick around! That T/A looks really nice, and it's practically brand new with those low miles! Great find! I will say, the car looks VERY high off the ground, almost like it's been raised! Some lowering springs should fix that ;-)
Raz
yeah it does seem a little high but it's all stock suspension. I'm going to get my wheel package, LT's & duals in, then I'll see how much room is left. If there's still enough room to do a 1-2" drop & leave enough clearance I'll put that on my list.

Looks good even if it does seem to sit a bit high, but then alot of us are used to cars that have been lowered in one way or another.

The only thing I'd be hesitant with with lowering it is with the true duals, with them on it you might have some issues driving over anything but flat ground (ie problems with things like speed bumps, angled driveways, etc).

Yep true duals will take away a lot of ground clearance. If you drop the car any more than an inch, you'll be regretting it. The car will sound awesome though, i love the true dual's sound..like music to my ears haha.

I've been reading some threads on here about the oval exhaust pipes, can't remember the name of the co. atm, but that looks like a good way to go for some extra clearance. A lot would depend on the collectors for the LT's as well but the shop I'm going to custom does headers for our cars & camaros so that may be an option too for about the same $ as a higher end set. When I get it down there on the rack to get a complete estimate I'll take some pics so I can post some before/during/after pics of the install.
