Well there is one other way, but you've got to have small hands and fairly small/skinny arms to be able to do it that way.
The way I change mine when I've had to is this way:
Open the hood and then turn on the headlights so that they flip-up, then turn the switch back so the lights themselves go out but the lights stay flipped up. Now take the manual turn knob and turn the headlights up as far as you can get them to comfortably go. If you look past the opening under the headlight you can see the back of the fog light assembly. Now you take your left arm (if doing the passenger side) and slide your arm under the headlight assembly so it's between the bottom of the headlight and back of the nose clip. You'll have to kind of manuever your arm around a bit but if you do it right you can reach the bulb and be able to lean over a bit and see what you're doing.
But like I said you've got to have a fairly small hand and arm to be able to do it this way. The only other way is the way you done it. Sorry.
Hmm I tried to see what I could do from the top, but no cigar. I actually did manage to get the pins out from the bottom today without destroying them, though. I got my new bulbs in, which are some blue HID style ones. They look pretty sexy with my HID conversion headlamps. I drove to work this morning with them and the fogs alone are bright enough to use without the heads, but I have a cop magnet as it is. I don't need to get busted for no headlights haha. I'll post a pic tonight after it gets dark. They look sweet.
