What is the difference between the loudmouth I and II SLP exhausts? I know they can both be put on LS1's or LT1's, and I know they come with one of 2 types of tips, but what is the difference bwteen them? and do the dual dual tips say SLP on them like the single ones do?

I'm very familiar with all three of these exhausts, and have had 2 of them on my cars. On my 95 i had the Dual-Dual w/ double resonators right before the tips...they were the top of the line upgrade from SLP exhausts on the Camaro SS's in 1997. On my LT1 it sounded really nice! It was a bit louder than stock at idle, and the idle was quite a bit deeper. But at WOT it was definitely louder and much more aggressive, yet still refine.
The SLP Loudmouth I i have on my T/A now...and let me tell you it's by far the loudest exhaust system i have yet to come across. At idle it's pretty loud, and at WOT the thing will shatter windows of cars you pass. It sounds pretty good, doesn't really have any refinement to it though. Just loud muscle...if that's what you like, such as me!
The SLP Loudmouth II is the same exact setup as the Loudmouth I, just the resonator is a bit wider in diameter and it's ceramic coated. Basically the sound difference is much more quiet than the Loudmouth I. And it does sound a bit more refine. I'm considering swapping out my Loudmouth I resonator with something different since i'm putting on my Longtubes tomorrow. biggrin.gif I don't need it to be insanely loud.
The best thing about the Loudmouth setup is that you can swap the resonators out in about 20 minutes. You can interchange the Loudmouth I, Loudmouth II, the Dynomax Bullet, and the Borla XR-1 (what i'm considering swapping for).

FYI i love SLP Exhausts.

Oh on a side note, i was just on the SLP website today and they are introducing a new exhaust sytem. The SLP Powerflo. They've got a soundclip on there if anybody wants to check it out. Sounds pretty good to me, i may consider swapping my exhaust for this one later down the road!

Is the Loudmouth II considerably quieter then the Loudmouth I?

I am going to be gettin either the I or II mid next month and have been reserachin exhausts like non stop since i got the car about a year ago. I love the LS1 sound.

Freshbake
yes it is considerably quieter. One thing that may help your decision: Do you plan on putting headers on the car at all in the future? If you do, ask yourself if you want the car insanely loud...because that's what you'll get if you go with the LM1. LMII sounds really nice. Honestly you can't go wrong with either one. If you like really loud, go LM1. If you like loud, but not annoyingly loud, go with the LMII. Hope this helps and definitely let us know what you chose to go with!
20Formula01
Thanks ya that definatly helps but the thing is i do plan on gettin headers in the future but i dont think anytime soon or at least not this year prolly next year. Basicly bottom line i just want my car to scream when i stomp on it.

With the LMII is it fairly quiet at idle and at WOT just really loud? And for the LMI is it just loud all the time?
Freshbake
Well if you plan on getting headers, and want to get the LM1 here is what it will sound like. I have the LM1 on my car, and now i have SLP longtubes on it as well...i've got two soundclips here to give you a reference as to what your car will sound similar to:

SLP Loudmouth 1:

SLP Loudmouth 1 w/ SLP Longtube Headers & Catted Y

I love the way my car sounds, if you want your car to really scream at WOT get the LM1 its much louder. At idle, believe it or the LM1 really isn't all that loud. Its got a nice deep grumble to it and it is ear shattering at WOT. From what it sounds to me, you are looking for the sound that will come from the LM1.

Thanks alot for the help. But i think i am going to get the LMII and if its not loud enough i will buy the resonator or just throw a pipe where the muffler should be biggrin.gif . Only reason i say get the LMII cause if it is not loud enough the resonator is cheaper then the muffler. And thanks again for the help.
Freshbake
actually both of them are resonators. And they are both interchangable...they are both the exact same size and fit in the exact same place on the catback system.
20Formula01
Ya i know there the same size and go in the same place. But LMI has the resonator and the LMII has the bullet muffler. I thought a muffler and a resonator are 2 totally different things. Whats the difference between the two.
Freshbake
oh yes you are right about that. I just didn't think when i read the post, i was thinking more like a traditional muffler. The difference between the two is that the LM1 is a straight through resonator with absolutely no restriction whatsoever. The LMII is a muffler with dampening and absorbing material inside it that causes it to be much quieter. I'm sure you will be happy with the LMII, because honestly you cant go wrong with either setup.

Ya i actually watched that video a while back when i started lookin for LM sound clips. And your cars sounds awesome wish i could here it in person cause sound clips dont do the actually exhaust note any justice. Like what you have the full SLP system is what i want. And the resonator is only like $70 so if the bullet muffler is really not loud enough for me then its not a huge deal buying the resonator.

Keep in mind that exhaust is going to sound different on your LT1 than on Freshbake's LS1. A lot different!
Freshbake
Yeah you all are right, it does look like rice to me. I guess i was just excited to share the news that SLP came out with a new product lol. I'm happy with what i've got. And yes, it will sound much different on an LT1
