Dang these cars are fast. I did most of my street racing back in the 80's. I like my spotless driving record & have 2 sons (1 getting ready to get license) so I try to keep it at the track now. He needs some more driving time in before his drive test so we went on our weekly Sat cruise (in his 2000 Z28). Anyway I was driving back after he drove a couple hours. I was getting on the on ramp & goosed it a little up to 65. I saw an acura in my rearview & he obviously saw me. He was in & out of traffic to catch up, then he gets beside me & starts revving it. My kid says oh chit, a ricer. I gave a couple of little revs & he takes off. I've never seen a fart pipe that big! Looked like a 6" tip on there. This wasn't an old beat up acura either, a nice lookin newer one. There was so much black smoke pouring out of the exhaust I thought his engine was ready to blow, & my kids in the pass seat laughing his butt off. He had it floored for a good 4-5 seconds while I was still steady at 65. I checked my mirrors, told my son "don't ever do this" & got 1 lane over in the right & floored it. I guess I've been driving conservitively since I had my car cause that speedo went from 65 to 100 almost instantly. I let up and braked a little almost immediately after flooring it & I was 1 lane over but right beside the acura again. My kids still laughing & I have this stupid grin stuck to my face from the torque. They just kinda nodded & smiled & pretty much stayed around 65 too after that. Not a kill & definately not a race but I could get in trouble easy in one of these. tongue.gif

Sounds like you had a bit of fun there. They probably stayed around the same speed as you cause after your little show they knew they were not only outclassed but out gunned too. laugh.gif

Oh and get used to that smile it's gonna be a permanent part of your face from now on. biggrin.gif

"Dang these cars are fast."

You got that right. Welcome to the wonderful world of the LS1 :-) Every single day i always pull into my driveway and i still have that stupid grin on my face haha!! These cars are so much fun to drive, which is why i love them. It's so much better than driving some family van around. No excitement. Haha, and i love the part where you looked over at your son and said "dont ever do this". Reminds me of my dad messing in my first car (91 305 Firebird) doing burnouts when i was in 9th grade in the passenger seat!

I've been a bad example with my daughter too! "Do as I say not as I do"
But whatever, we just can't help it sometimes!

I tend to get on it sometimes while my son is with me (he's 21). So expect to start hearing some stories about him racing.

The other night I was shootin pool with a buddy when we decided to take my Bird for a cruise....we came across my ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in his V6 Mustang with an aftermarket hood and body kit...we where on the 3 mile "cruise stretch" about 2o minutes from where I live...needless to say, at the red light, I put his 6 banger in its place...it was hilarious...better yet, when I came up to them she looked over at me from the passenger seat(I was on their right hand side) and I smiled and winked at her...she smerked and blushed...it was hilarious, I dont think he was very happy...

Speaking of racing around with Kids in Car.
Before my Daughter was 2 months old I was cruising Woodward with her in the Infant car seat, Now she's 3 and is always telling me to go faster.
Who am I to dissapoint her. biggrin.gif

My daughter Devon when we're out and someone keeps revving at me always looks at me, says you gonna put him in his place, and then tightens her seatbelt up and settles back in her seat cause she knows that I can't pass up a challenge, even from something that I know I'm gonna blow the doors off of. hehe

Does that make me a bad example?

Oh and when I do win and the person gets next to me afterwards, she always looks at them and then gives them a small wave, blows them a kiss and smiles. laugh.gif

All good stuff no doubt!!!

Wish I could enjoy similar, but my girl hates tire smoke and doesn't want anything to do with hot-rodding dry.gif
