Howdy,

Well I have decided to to replace my old Yokohama tires (AVID V4) with a size of 245-50-R16 with new Yoks that are the ADVAN S4, since AVID V4 are no longer available. I went with a 235-50-17 size tire. Did I make a mistake going with a 235 instead of 245? What is the difference?

These new tires are a W tire as opposed to the V rated tires I originally had.

I also went with 17 inch American Racing Rims but a buddy of mine said American Racing rims look better with 18 inch tires and bigger?

Thanks to the help on the forum I have decided to lower the car about an inch.

Any opinions will help.

Thanks.

What size rims did you get 17 x ?
a 235 50 17 is actually narrower and taller then your old 16's and would throw your speedo off
the proper size rim and tires are
17x9 w/275/40/17's
and these will not throw off your speedo.

OH NO!

The rim is in fact 17x9 and the guy ordered me the 235/50/17's...
Don't you think he should know this? Will the tire clear with that size? That is one fat tire is it not?

Thanks for the input. I just hope he will consider changing the order.

Update: I called the tire place back and the guy ordered me the 275/40/17's ... I just hope that the tire will actually fit my car properly being a bigger tire especially the width. Any input is appreciated, thanks guys.

17x9 with 275/40's is the standard size for all 4th Gen SS Camaro's, Firehawks and WS6's

Assuming that you have a 4th Gen since you never gave any input as to what car you have.

Huh?

I don't know how much more I have to include about my car from this link ----->>>> http://www.theformulasource.com/forums/ind...showtopic=15258

From that information that I have provided, are those tires you now recommend correct?

Well, at least admit the information was there insteading of assuming I didn't provide the info.

Everyone else seems to be very helpful.

Your good my friend
It was my mistake I didn't research your car.
Although it might be a good Idea to make up a Signature and put up a 4th Gen Owner Avatar aswell to end any further confusion.

As for the Tire sizes 275/40/17 is spot on.

Craig, he really doesn't need to make up a sig. He can just put all the info about his car in his Tech Tool Tray, that's what it's there for.

But it would be a good idea for you to put up the 4th gen avatar. That way we'd know right off the bat what gen car you've got if nothing else.
