Me Too
OK, I'm not a newbie. Been here before...in fact, a founding member. That said, in the "top 20 posters" part, that's me..."Charles", third from the left, with the third highest number of posts. It took several years for a couple of others to pass me. I sort of retired for 4 years due to a disagreement between me and a certain two!

It's been so long, have forgotten what type of car I had. That's the operative word..."HAD". I no longer own the beast that was usually broken except for the month before it sold. I traded it for a parakeet and two imports, one a Subaru that looks like a station wagon with big round bedroom eyes and the other a hot little Civic. Both have those ridiculous small engines that sound like rice being ground to make Saki and can't smoke the tires unless someone puts oil on the tread with a slippery road on a rainy day. They followed me home one day, what can I say? They were just so cute.... Hate that when some 200 pound gorilla driving a Firebird looks at me and says "you wanna race me with THAT?" I mean c'mon...it's the best I've got, waddya want me to do...buy a real car? Oh, hell no...won't do it. I mean, ya know...the car kinda goes along with my Keds tenny runners, the purple silk shirt and the stickers on the side, ya know what I mean?

Still have to find those tires that are so low profile they look like rubber bands--I need a huge coffee can for the tailpipe and some purple neons for underneath--that'll impress those that "know"..... And, oh...hey! NGK also makes ignition wires...if you drove a Civic, you'd know this.

Seriously, sold the Firebird, becuz moved to Japan---it left my garage exactly two years ago yesterday and I sure do miss it. It had fierce acceleration, finally tripping the 1/4 mile lights at 12.54 with street tires--somewhat worn out (actually, a lot worn out). The engine was heavily modded except for the block, that was OEM. The heads were ported, polished, flow bench corrected, stock cam with 1.6 roller rockers, an AFR Hydra Rev kit, titanium parts, Feria 6000 valves 1LE suspension, custom lightweight drive shaft, LT4 clutch kit, Borla exhaust, Extrude Honed exhaust manifolds, OBDII PCM, and much more.

My favorite kill of all time was within one week of selling the car--it was a then brand new BMW M6--yeah a 4.5 second car. Took him by one car length at the top end of 2nd gear. I was shifting at 6,600 rpm, and even though he got me by a 1/2 car length out of the hole (I don't like smoking tires), we were even by the top of 1st and 2nd gear was used to just haul him in. What was so fun was that he was banging the steering wheel with his hand when I finally let off the throttle. It was just great! Bimmer snobs...ya just gotta love 'em.

Now my racing days are taken up with riding my bicycle, dodging brain dead divers and surfers along the seawall, driving on the wrong side of the road, slurping a Starbucks from time to time, and dreaming of my next "real car". Hey, ya know what they call little cars with stickers all over them and noisy fart can mufflers in Japan? RICERS! I know-w-w-w-w-w-w........coulda knocked me over with a piece of octopuss sushi. laugh.gif
