I've got a 95 with the premium sound(not bose) but the one with 10 speakers.

2 on each door(4), 2 tweaters(2), 2 in the back seat(2), and 2 in the rear hatch(2)...=10

I am planning on replacing the speakers because one or two are blown...but i dont know what sizes i need...

I know i dont need new tweaters, but i plan on replacing all the other ones...are they all 6x9's? or are some of them smaller?
thanks!

The only ones that I can remember the size of are the ones in the side panels, rear seat--6.5 inches. The others are various sizes, maybe 4 inches, in the back and 5.25 inches in the front doors--take off the speaker covers and measure them--it's easy. The speakers are really esoteric with huge magnets. They are made by a wild company in San Diego, I think maybe SIS or something like that. Extremely good for car speakers, they are worth saving. All that is needed is to remove, and send them to any company that you can find on the Internet that can install new foam surrounds. Don't bother buying new ones from GM, the foam on those things is also gone...I tried that one. Doing just the surrounds can save you lots of money, and the speakers will be like new.

Those stock speakers are nice and are worth keeping,I agree. I put Pioneer's in my doors but I still use the stockers in the sail panels and they sound good. My car has 6 1/2" everywhere but I dont have the 10 speaker system. Any stereo shop should be able to tell you whats in there or like mentioned above, measure them. I've never had a speaker repaired but if the voice coil is burnt it probably is not worth fixing. Gently push in on the cone and if it is rough and scrubby feeling it's shot.

Both replies above are correct these are very good speakers as far as factory goes even way back in my 1993. Alot of people rip out the speakers and go with off the shelf speakers BUT what they do not know is that the facory speakers are 2ohm and most off the shelf speakers are 4ohm.

Try and find a good 2ohm speaker lol it is hard. You can find them but they are not a circuit city or best buy item lol.

TransAm Creations in Florida has good used speakers for all of these cars and they will bolt right in and are the correct ohm.

Me TOO is correct about "rebuilding" the speaker but alot of people want instant plug and play gratification, I think his way is the way to go if you want a new CORRECT application speaker.

I have to disagree. The factory speakers are garbage. Paper cones and cloth surrounds, weak voice coils. I blew out my rears and fronts. Sounded like crap. And if you want to pay Trans Am Ripoffs a lot of money for used stuff, go ahead! My Sony Mobile ES sounds way better than the stockers. I think what you guys are referring to is the rear "subwoofers" (located high in quarter panels) being 2 ohm (and dual voice coil), all the other speakers are 4 ohm. NOW I WILL AGREE, if you put 4 ohm speakers there it distorts and sounds awful! You must use to far rear speaker wiring. Also, use components in the front door locations. And with aftermarket, you get what you pay for, cheap speakers sound like cheap speakers! (I have/had the Monsoon 10 speaker setup.)

And be sure to use 6.5 OVERSIZED, normal 6.5 won't fit.

If you read my postI say for factory they are good. Also the rear hatch speakers in my 1993 10 speaker set up were 2 ohm speakers.

I have replaced every speaker BUT the subwoofer at this point with aftermarket and I have a new head unit also. The old system was worn out.

Like anything most facotry parts are not as good as aftermarket due to cost and mass production.

As far as Your Trans Am creations comment they sell what people need. I have used plenty of parts from window motors to hinges to sensors. I have never had a problem.

I was posting that as a way to go if you don't want to go aftermarket.
