Hi everyone,
I've owned my Firebird since Aug of 99... Got it from a buddy of mine hanging out watching a race one day and I said to him "what are you gonna do with that Firebird"? Which his wife got for free from this old lady she took care of (his wife is a home health nurse) The old lady gave her this car for all the good care she gave her... Original owner car...my buddy never titled it....it just sat and sat...so anyway he told me"I dont know...make me a offer"... I said how about a $100 ? sold !! Really...I swear thats how it happened...
So this is the scoop... its that Rockford color....no spoiler, nice hood,350 2bbl, and Tan with gold velour centers interior...UGLY! 14 x 6 wheels.... It is by no means a gem... The old lady backed over a fence post and some how the ploe came up and gashed the top of the pass side quarter...The inspection stickers are 9/88 but it runs great!!With a jump she'll fire right up...then just a tap of the key! I will post some picts as soon as get used to this site...

What I have done to it?...not much...cleaned,sanded,painted the wheels, new firestones F70-14(tires wouldnt hold air). First year I had it did the Englishtown,New Jersey swap meet....got 2 rear quarter skins($150)..had pass side put on,drivers side had a patch put on in front of wheel.
couple years later went back to the swap meet got deck lid w/ spoilers ($50) and a pass side fender ($250) just missed the drivers side by 5 minutes... and thats about it!!
One thing I thought weird being a 74 I expected unleaded gas tank and cats....nope large opening and true duals...then I went to the auto parts store and got plugs, cap and wires for it only to my surprise no HEI.....it had points!

So now Ive have the bug to fix her and drive it.....so any help would be appriecated.

Peace,
Rob

Awsome deal! The Rockford Files used a 74 and a 77 model, both base Firebirds. HEI became standard in 1975. Not positive about the catalytic convertors though. I think they may have been a 75 thing to. Cant wait to see pics.

welcome.gif to TFS Rob! I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Congrats on getting such a great deal of the car and on the parts you've found for it. I'll have to see if I can find my book (I know it's around here somewhere) to let you know when cats became a standard item on our cars.

And I can't wait to see pics of it so if you need any help with posting them let me know and I'd be more then happy to help you with that. cool.gif

Finally found my book. From what I can figure out in 1974 there was no emissions items on the Formula, in 1975 there wasn't either. In 1976 it depended on the engine that was in the car. The cat became standard equipment in 1977.
