I dont know about chicago weather but i drive my 97 T/A everyday and the cutout works like a champ. Just gotta worry about speedbumps and such. but they are manufactured so that water wont be an issue, 3 feet of snow....i dont know...
I would recomend QTP, they have a solid product.

I have the DMH- did the research and they seemed best. Yeah, it died after 6 months and I still haven't gotten back under there to put the new one in. This is on my Suby, which sees year round duty, including NY winters.

HMMM i have done some research too and i have found that alot of people have had problems with the QTP cutout but have not found that much about the DMH cutout. The DMH has a 4 year warrenty so i might just go with that one.
