Well I just got my Formula back from a tint shop, they tinted the whole car back hatch, windows, and did a strip on top the windshield. I came home only to realize that they broke my rear hatch catch/motor mount thing. I heard a buzzing noise, and it was coming from the rear, and it was the sound of the motor trying to pull down the hatch but unable to, because the catch is knocked off center tilting foward and loose. It was probably an accident, that instead of lowering down the hatch gently and letting the motor do it's work they probably slammed it down and broke it.
Will it be an easy fix? Or will it cost me a pretty penny.. And to think Yesterday I went to go get an extra key and on the way home my rear view mirror fell off.. This week is already looking bad...
EDIT: Well I took apart the hatch motor assembly, and the motor mount is cracked in half. Also the nylon gear that runs off the motor that lowers and raises the shaft is worn down and won't work. It looks like because the mount cracked the shaft that runs through it got put off center and became lodged, making the gear stuck. And because the gear refused to turn the motor wore it down to nothing.
So I ordered new parts.. Sub total $57.

I'd be sending the bill to the window film people.

I'm with BrdWAtti2d, I'd be giving them the bill for the parts and stuff to fix it since they're the ones who broke it.

Rear hatch motor, eh?
Not a hijack attempt...but what years had that?
My '02 doesnt...or maybe it's not working...
Sure would be nice though.
ANYWAY, I'm with you on sending the tint place the bill, but you know they are gonna say it was broken when they got it. Never underestimate the power of denial.

over on TGO one of the suppliers/sponsors has all the parts you will ever need for the hatcch pul down. TOP DOWN SOLUTIONS is the name. BTW they have a better case (the clear thing that holds the motor, gears and such) vs the clear stocker that will surely break in time.
i'll be getting my glass re tinted eventually and im glad you said that. im EXTREAMLY anal about the hatch motor on my car. locally im the guy that fixes the hatches and headlight motors on our cars.
