ok here is my question i have a 97 formula firebird without the ram air package... I want to install ram air on it but I can't seem to find any sort of package or kit or anything i really dont want to take it to a dealership as the one here in tucson price gouges like no tomorrow. I would also like the kit to be able to match up with an aftermarket hood particularly this one pictured

am I making this too complicated? I tried going through the other posts on the foums and wasn't able to find anything related to what I am looking for.

You don't say what car you are putting this on so I'm assuming it's a fourth gen. These guys sell fully functional ram air set ups. They aren't cheap.

Well if you look at the packages from both websites there isn't much of difference. Separate the components and you see a price difference in the air box and hood price. I have read and seen myself on websites like Car Domain saying that Suncoast hoods did not fit too well as it had considerable gaps between the fender area. I believe there was also a post on this website about that, but if you do are looking to get the WS6 style or the Predator?

Also don't forget to check Ebay or your local junkyards for a hood or airbox, I doubt you'll find it but it's worth a look. Also if you just run a search for "ram air" on google you'll find lots of websites that make them, but beware they make only that and some don't offer an airbox box or direct you to someone that can help. You might find those hoods alot cheaper too but cheap can mean faulty and defective sometimes. Good luck.

Actually there are several of us on here that have Suncoast hoods, including myself on my 97 and Doug on his car. I've got the regular ram air hood from them and Doug has the predator hood. Of the people I know, none of us had any fitment issues with our hoods and still don't have any issues, unless the people have had issues and just didn't say anything about them. But then all of us have had our hood for years now and had them professionally installed. So who knows, when those people who've had issues got their hoods and who installed them might be making the difference.

Also it wasn't a Suncoast hood that the member was having fitment issues with, it was a Glasstek fiberglass hood. Here's a link to the thread:

Im lookin at getting a 4 inch raised hood....but does that fit the standard ram air setup?

Who are you thinking of getting that hood from? I'm just asking because most of the time the manufacturer of aftermarket hoods make an air box set-up that works perfectly with their hoods.

hawks third generation f body or something

Please dear baby Jesus do not put that ridiculous hood on your car unless it has a high enough intake to require it... cool.gif
